That hardest thing about this will be NOT posting design work for feedback in order to have a clean competition.

I know what you mean already. I was doing some modeling last week to try this out. It was, as I expected, not as easy as some other sims I've done. I believe both drivers are capable of the blend, but it really did take some finesse to get it looking right.

I really think this is going to be very interesting indeed....

After listening and tweaking most of mine don't look right. I might bring a spare x-o to compare later.

That is possible too, I suppose. Sometimes some curving of the response makes things sound better.

I think curving of the response has issues where you loose the mid range detail. I like the bbc dip below 1,000 hz and to pay attention to 4K to 10K

I agree there. Flat midrange resolution is usually my endgame. And we don't want a hot tweeter either...

Okay, due to the stocking concerns and the mostly unavailable drivers (woofers), Chuck and I have decided to host a 'voicing day' on Jan 29th in Laporte, IN at his church, venue address et al will be as information comes in. If you have a xover made up you can bring it and dial in your sound to where you prefer it.

I know for some of you this is too far to travel. I figured the option would be appreciated for those that would have purchased drivers and were not able to do so.

I will be bringing the speakers as they will be in April, not to be changed from that point until after the main event.

Please let me or Chuck know if you can and want to attend.

The main event dates and such should be nailed down by the end of the month.

                Hope to see you,
                Wolf

Hmm, how much lake effect snow does LaPorte get? Might be nice if the non-voiced speakers get to compete against each other first.

Unfortunately, since this will be a totally blind competition, that will not be an option in April.

I actually like the idea of not hearing my crossover until the day of the event, it adds to the excitement.

                        Bill-
I imagine you won't be alone with that mentality or arrangement.

That said- this was NOT an easy xover for me to model and be happy. It took some finagling and some finesse to make them sing, as well as a few stabs with different modeling programs to do what was required. I think we picked the right drivers for something such as this.

                        I suppose I should ask as things will start firming up in the new year;
Who is coming (or sending with Meniscus) with a xover for the Missing Link Competition?
                        I know of:

                        Wolf

Thanks for the update. I plan to attend the main event in April with one non-theme pair, but will not be there in January. I've modelled the frd's in VituixCad, but have not decided yet if I am actually going to order parts and build something.
