  • To the Moderators on this site . . .

You have made this place an unfriendly and humor lacking environment by your heavy handed editing of member postings such that none of us can get to know the other members at all - it is pure business for you.

You have chosen to delete everything that does not comport to your desires and that is your right.

Ebay is a more affordable place to buy your wares and is as sterile as you have made this forum become devoid of human interaction.

My PE project lists will now be deleted due to your actions - I will purchase audio gear elsewhere from here on out.

You keep raising your prices almost daily as well and call them sales items - it is laughable.

Best of luck in the future and I hope you make it and remain in business and can keep your staff employed.

I have purchased from you when it wasn't the least expensive place to buy in order to support you but you have now gotten under my skin of late.

    Good luck.

    Steve Lee.

Technically this forum is to talk about electronics/audio related topics as I can see why a mod would delete topics not related to audio as it can clutter up the forum and take up space. I wouldnt take it personally.

I agree with you about the rising prices but its rising everywhere not just at P.E.......Gas prices are insane.

The main reason I buy products from P.E. is because they have provided me with good service so far (knock on wood lol) as I just place 2 more orders. within this week.

The mods on this forum is more relaxed then the mods on the DIY forum as they are dictators not even abiding by there own rules its a do as I say not as I do type of forum. One guy got banned even though he did not break any forum rules because a mod at the DIY forum stated he was not in the "SPIRIT" of the forum. SMDH LOL

What is that, $6/gallon US? Yikes! People forget that the current inflation is global, not just local...

In Oz, 93 Octane E10, which is the cheapest petrol, is A$1.65 per litre'; 95 Octane premium is another 15 cents. There are roughly 3.8 litres to the US gallon, so petrol here is A$6.30 per US gallon.

No wonder people here are going electric!

In the UK Diesel prices are around £1.50 per litre (Petrol/gas about 5p cheaper) which for a 3.8l US Gallon at $1.30 to the pound is almost $7.50 per US gallon. The galling thing is that close on 60% of that is tax and then we pay a yearly road tax on top of that.

Not everyone suffers during inflation - businesses are posting insane profits right now, and of course we are well on our way to seeing the worlds first trillionaire.

The price of gasoline is up, but it has cost more in the not too distant past. And it is a bargain compared to how much the cost of education and health care have gone up. If gas had gone up by the same percentage as the cost of tuition and fees from when I was in school in the mid 70s, we'd be paying upwards of $20/gallon.

The irony of making loans for education easier to get so the price went up. They can charge more so they do charge more. Everything does that. If people couldn't get 8+ year car loans then the car manufactures couldn't sell cars at the prices they are selling them for.

I am afraid that there is a certain amount of the J P Morgan(the man) idea "whatever the market will bear" in more populated areas.

Here in Vt, fuel and groceries have simply returned to 2019 levels, after a year and some at depressed levels.

Manufactured goods have risen, but supplies are limited by the slow restart of transport systems, and, well, supply and demand.

But, really, if a tweeter that was 15$ in 2018 is 20$ in 2022, I'd say that our suppliers, including PE, Mad, Solen, have done a reasonable job in trying times.

2021 US GDP grew at the fastest rate since 1984! Not too shabby. Now if he'd just eliminate the tariffs for US importers of Chinese goods we could lower some of these supply-chain induced increases in relative prices.

The growth in GDP can cause inflation—which can lead to hyperinflation. I know you think this "fastest rate" of GDP is a good thing, however when you compare GDP to the inflation numbers it is cause for alarm.

Re: Chinese tariffs, any tariffs that have not been excluded have been past to the consumer as cost increases. You won't be seeing any great roll-back even if the tariffs were eliminated.

"The growth in GDP can cause inflation..." Not really, but it's complicated. See the Money and Banking textbook by Frederic Mishkin if interested.

"—which can lead to hyperinflation..." No, and not complicated. See the Wikipedia entry on hyperinflation.

"You won't be seeing any great roll-back even if the tariffs were eliminated..." Not raising prices further in 2022 would produce 0% inflation. Rolling back prices would result in deflation which can be more problematic than inflation.

This is a forum to discuss audio projects/ideas/questions that is funded by Parts Express. What is so difficult to understand about that?
Individual political views or how to properly use keyboard characters do not fall under that criteria.

I would agree that it ls wise to have a low-to-zero tolerance for off-topic posts on things like politics and religion because they are emotive and likely to generate large numbers of posts and bad feeling. Information on how to use the forum I would consider fine but if this lead to lots of posts on, say, wordprocessors, apple vs windows, etc... then probably not. I would also consider the rise in the price of drivers to be on topic in the sense of where it is happening. The reasons why though involving what the massive amounts of recently printed money has been used to do is political, is likely to make posters angry and is best discussed elsewhere and not on a DIY speaker forum like this.

To address the OP, I would suggest that if moderators dislike/delete your posts and you don't agree with their reasoning (we all make mistakes now and again requiring an apology or acknowledgement) then you should move on to a forum where such posts are welcome. Disagreeing with other posters is fine and normal but any significant disagreement with the moderation of a forum is quite different. I have opted to move on from several forums when I came to realise the degree to which some of my posts were disliked by the moderators. I still look at the sites now and again but do not post. It is disappointing and tends to reinforce my information bubble but given the way the web works forums will serve the interests of those that fund and own them.

Moderating should be done by enforcing established rules on a forum and not because they dislike you or your post.

Agreed but the real world has a tendency to follow unwritten rules as much as written ones. If the moderators of a forum express genuine dislike rather than disagreement (i.e. agreeing to disagree) for the content of some of your posts then the writing is on the wall and it is time to move on. If the moderators delete some of your posts then that is an even stronger indication that you are out of step with the forum and not welcome. Doubly so if the deleted posts don't break any of the written rules. Moderators are human and if, for example, posts are dismissive of important beliefs held by the moderator and the community they are seeking to grow then things are likely to get unpleasant.

Very little money is "printed". Currency is printed but is only a small portion of the relevant measures of the money supply which include checking accounts and other demand deposits.

It is easy to forget that prices don't just go up based on the expense of the goods. If you are going to be able to sell 100 of something in a set time period you only need to make X dollars on each one to make enough overall profit to survive. But if your supply over the same time period changes to only 20 then you have to make 5 times more profit on each one to end up with the same amount of profit at the end. Retailers don't know when they will be able to replenish inventories.

Car prices are crazy right now but there is a dealer I drive by every day and even at 50 mph I can count every car on their lot. If you are selling 50 cars a month you can get by with making a hundred or two on each but if you are only going to get 10 cars to sell this month and you sell them for the same price they would be gone the first couple of days and you'd have to shut down for the rest of the month. On top of that there are always the in demand cars that the manufactures will only send the dealers one of for every 10 they buy of the less popular models. The problem now is they aren't making as many of the less popular models because they are saving the chips for the high dollar ones. So the dealers don't have a flood of cars they need to move at cost or a small loss so that they can get more of the profit making models.
It is the same way with electronics, there were no end of the model year clearances sales at crutchfield where they clear out the old stuff at 40+ percent off because they sold out of those months ago.
