In 2013 I built the Amiga's. In 2015 I upgraded them to Core 2. I used the since discontinued rs28f as the tweeter. I am now thinking of changing out the rs180s to a rs180p paper woofer. Or possibly a sb one. I need to know how the crossover would need to be modified to use the rs180p. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. Matthew

Rs180p for Core 2 ?
Main System: Paul Carmody Core 2, DIY Jasmine Redux speakers by JSR . Schiit Saga + preamp, Modus DAC, Loki equalizor, Akitika amp, Cambridge Audio AXA35 integrated amp and AXC CD player. 43 year old Onkyo CP-1260F turntable, Sony 800 4k player. Denon AVR-X3200 7.1 receiver.Tags: None

The paper version has different impedance and frequency characteristics, different sensitivity and will perform differently in the same box tuning. In my experience the paper version will produce slightly less bass given the same enclosure and tuning.
"What needs to change" really isn't that simple to answer - its a whole new speaker for all intents and purposes and needs to be re-designed from scratch.Constructions: Dayton+SB 2-Way v1 | Dayton+SB 2-Way v2 | Fabios (SB Monitors)
Refurbs: KLH 2 | Rega Ela Mk1

The RS180P is a really nice mid woofer, but what don't you like about the sound of the RS180 or The Cores?
Member Dezzar has posted a beautiful build with the 180P-4 on this Forum: https://techtalk.parts-express.com/f...2-build-thread
I'm pretty sure there's a design on PETT for a RS28F/RS180P-8, by filmslayer, from memory the crossover design used more parts than the Cores.
The RS180P is also used in Wogg's "Super Nova Minimus", with a Vifa tweeter, in the PE Projects Pages: http://projectgallery.parts-express....rnova-minimus/
All these projects use different cabinets to The Cores and of course different crossovers.

Try Zaph's SR71. A nice soft fluffy reed woofer and fabric tweeter. Like "My Speaker".

Or Wolf's Nephila 2 way. Uses a paper/kevlar cone HiVi F6 woofer, built in the same basic box as the Carmody series..

Thanks everyone for the great responses.. what would I need to do to the crossovers to suppress the peak response of the woofer ?Main System: Paul Carmody Core 2, DIY Jasmine Redux speakers by JSR . The peaking of the metal cone woofer is pretty well-damped in the Core and the Amiga. I think it's about -50 dB down with the crossover on the Core. I suppose you could find someone who could insert another filter into the crossover to try and bring the peaking down even more.
As to the original question, the RS180P is a nice driver. But yeah its Frequency Response is very different than the aluminum cone, so it's basically a "from scratch" design.Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?

I assume you want to re-use your cabinets and tweeter?
The Amiga cabinet would be too large in volume for the 180P - it's fine for two of them, that's what we have - but you could always put in a shelf to reduce the volume.
The Amiga/Core speaker cabinet has the same dimensions as Parts Express 'Denovo' floor standing cabinet, so you could search projects which use that, such as the Nephila mentioned above, or something like:
http://projectgallery.parts-express....the-standards/
Edit: apologies, the standards use the RS28A, but the crossover could probably be tweaked to work with the 28F
