  • Milled MDF surface vs a painted for crossover design phase

I have an odd shaped speaker with rounded front which was cnc'd and then had Bondo applied in an irregular pattern based on perfecting the surface contours.

The purist in me thinks I should complete the painting before crossover design so I get the true Sonic signature of whatever diffraction occurs.

At high frequencies, I'm guessing it won't matter much due to the beaming nature of high frequencies. But at wrap-around frequencies, will having paint affect design significantly? If so, primer would be softer than a finish coat. I'm assuming there would be a difference there, too.

    Thoughts?
