Felt rings do not act as a waveguide, but do affect diffraction and possibly off-axis response. Is something like this okay? (Not sure I'd do it, but just asking.)

I guess I have no problem with felt rings. But due to the terms of the rules listed above two and a half ways are not allowed, and correct.

More difficult how? trying to get a narrow baffle or something?
I'm certainly not good at this. Just stubborn enough to keep going.

Just getting dimensions that both work and proportionally look good. I have a 10" driver with 10.7" frame. Allowing for a roundover I am at a 12 to 12.5" baffle width. Taking into account the tweeter and space between drivers and baffle edges I'm t around 18 to 20" tall. So facing those constraints I'm at a cabinet depth of 11.5" to 16" deep. I always mock-up the dimensions in Sketchup to make sure the proportions LOOK ok. Many of the combinations that give me my desired volume look ridiculous. 12.5 x 19.5 x 15 looks okay but is a BIG standmount speaker, although it is close to a deeper version of the Seas A26. I'm not that sure that a tower is that much easier. 1.5cf for a skinny tower is easy, but with a 12.5" wide baffle and a normal tweeter height it would be quite shallow.

I mean "up to 1.5cf" and "stand mount preferred" is a recipe for some big perching boxes! Hence me asking about PA tripod mounts lol! If they turn into a permanent build and not sure you want that at home I can understand.

if shooting for a tower and they aren't tall enough could possibly build short chunky stands that complete "the look"? Or maybe it would be allowed to make the enclosure physically taller while having the true bottom higher up in them to adhere to the internal volume constraint? Though I suppose the same idea could also be flipped upside down to have the tweeter higher up on an extended baffle outside the woofer enclosure.. sounds like that could possibly have the thumbs up already since that is pretty much how dipole tweets would be mounted?

As there are some drivers which blur the lines between tweeter and midtweeter or wide range, could this rule be further specified?

Eg, no cone drivers, or maybe impose a maximum mms or sd or something?

I think naturally it will occur to competitors to stretch the definition of "tweeter" as far as they can, so it might be useful to define that specifically here.

In prior years, I believe that it was stated that the manufacturers description must simply say tweeter. Not full range or wide range and probably not mid-tweeter either. I think a cone tweeter would easily qualify, as long as it is smaller than 4 1/8" diameter.

You have dates and location finalized? I saw Chuck posted some dates on the FB Project Pad.

I did not see this mentioned anywhere (maybe I missed it), but are Isobarik woofers allowed?

Multiple woofers are allowed so I thought it was OK.

Sadly not too many build threads here on PETT but I've seen some at MAC and diyaudio. The theme competition is full at 20 entries and because there is no price limit the variety of builds is pretty big. Should be a fun time with some cool speakers (and not just the theme ones) to hear!

Looks like a full house of attendees and projects on your list, Ben. Wish I could make it, but have a conflict this year. I will truly miss everyone. Hopefully next year.
