I have two of those 2.1 amps. I used one for many years in an 8" TangBand sub with various satellites as a PC 2.1 system. A few years ago I made a pair of speaker stands that put the satellites off the desk. Very glad I did that.
My current PC 2.1 is a Dayton 8" sub kit using their 250 watt DSP plate amp and gobs of power for the satellites. That DSP amp is worth a look. You won't need much watts for your satellites.

I like the way you are thinking. High efficiency paper cone = lower energy usage = cool! (no pun intended, ha ha).

mini econowave-inspired desktop speakers
I am fond of efficient speakers powered by low-wattage amplifiers. Any thoughts on an econowave-inspired desktop speaker for use with the PC? I am in love with the sound of the B&C DE250 horn driver and was thinking of matching it up with a B&C 6NDL38 6-1/2" woofer. It looks like it will do well in a smallish box of around .25 cu ft. I'd like to use a mini-dsp and actively crossover with 2 topping amps. The pair would only play down to 80Hz or so where I have a 10" Dayton sub under my desk for the lows. I am uncertain of the horn but was considering the Faital Tractrix as I want to keep the width under 8" to save deskspace.
B&C DE250-8 1" Polyimide Horn Driver 8 Ohm 2/3-BoltB&C's DE250 1" high frequency compression driver features smooth and accurate response. Its low mass polyimide diaphragm and optimized ceramic magnet assembly allow high sensitivity and low distortion up to 18 kHz. Popular with professional users as well as many discriminating "high efficiency" home audio enthusiasts, the B&C Speakers DE250 is considered one of the most listenable high performance 1" HF drivers available.Specifications: • Power handling: 60 watts RMS/120 watts program above recommended crossover of 1.6 kHz/12 dB slope • VCdia: 1.7" • Impedance: 8 ohms • Frequency response: 1,000-18,000 Hz • SPL: 108.5 dB 1W/1m • Dimensions: 4.7" diameter x 2.4" depth • Net weight: 4.6 lb. • Replacement diaphragm available.
B&C 6NDL38 6-1/2" Neodymium WooferB&C developed the 6NDL38 6-1/2" cast frame neodymium woofer/midrange for high output compact speaker systems. The rubber half-roll cone surround and long copper voice coil provide high excursion capability, and an aluminum demodulation ring reduces distortion.
Dayton Audio RSS265HF-4 10" Reference Series HF Subwoofer 4 OhmAs with the rest of the Reference Series, the main focus of the Dayton Audio RSS265HF 10" subwoofer is ultra-low distortion. Second, third, and intermodulation distortion are kept extremely low by utilizing three short-circuit paths within the motor structure. A durable aramid fiber spider and extensive venting throughout provide quiet and uniform excursion. The black anodized cone, thick rubber surround, and custom basket give this Dayton Audio driver a unique, high-end look. Choose the High Fidelity (HF) version for home systems when you are looking for clean, low bass and are not restricted by speaker cabinet size. The Dayton Audio RSS265HF-4 is used in the following kit:Dayton Audio 10" Reference Series HF Subwoofer and Starter Enclosure PackageIncluding the Dayton Audio RSS265HF-4 10" Reference subwoofer and a matching subwoofer starter kit this package makes it easy to build your own custom DIY subwoofer with minimal tools. You just need to make the top, bottom, sides, and back using all straight cuts with no tricky dadoes or rabbets required to complete your own ultra-low distortion compact subwoofer.VIEW KIT
