  • Techtalk forum a PIA on Android? Or just me?inactthi

It's constant. And this the only web forum I've had issues with.
On my Android phone I'm auto logged out or timed out and need to repeat login. When attempting to edit posts I'm repeatedly told "invalid server response" or "logged off for inactivity....while I'm ACTUALLY TYPING. During an edit I'm told to log in via another tab in order to not lose my content. I do so. And the original tab still says I'm logged off. I've tried opera, brave, chrome, and firefox, with a variety of settings. No help. Seems to be an Android thing.

While typing this post I've been interrupted with "Invalid Response. Try Again" ...five times now. And when I go to post this topic it is going to inform me, again, that i'm logged out.

And the post ended up with a messed up addition to the title, and I can't get the site to cooperate long enough to correct it. It must be my connection is bad somehow. But it is too odd that I have no problems, at all, with a dozen other forums online.

Gremlins aren't restricted to android. I only use my PC. The 'new posts' highlighting seldom updates, the 'Comment' function works only sporadically, and there's an annoying 'Accessibility' menu tag on the screen that I can't get rid of.

On my PC, comments and replies. very slow to post, new posts lags. Right now, the Wayne Shorter thread is atop the intro page, actually number 4. Recently a thread showed 0 replies, with a reply by Bill F.

Better than it was a few days ago. LOL.

This reply took 30 seconds to post, are we spoiled?

As often as not when I use this comment option I get a time out before it posts. That, or it will post but doesn't show up unless I go to a different site and come back later.

I can't say I'm impressed with the vBulletin software. I don't have any issues whatsoever with my phpBB software, and it's freeware.

Hello! We made a lot of changes to the software in early March to address some security concerns with PHP, MySQL, and the vBulletin software itself. During that time; there were some issues with slow posting, duplicate posts, and being logged out randomly. Those issue have been resolved. If you are still having issues, please feel free to reach out to me!

As of right now, March 16 at 11AM, my Forum home page shows the last post was made yesterday at 1:36 PM, with no new posts since then. When I open the Tech Talk page there are six new posts since then, including yours. When I make a reply the upload speed is like the days of dial up connections. I've seen no improvement since early March. It's still as bad as it ever was.

                    Hi Bill,

You can load the page in another tab and see the post in less than a second. The delay is due to Email Notifications. Anyone can subscribe to a forum (or any channel) and receive an email on every new post. The delay is due to the system determining who has visited recently, who wants an email, determining if duplicate emails are being sent, and sending emails while your reply is being processed. This is something vBulletin indicated that they are working on in a future software update. Most of the time is dealing with the actual email sending.

I am looking into the last post time updating more frequently.

                    Thanks for the feedback, Dave

I literally gave up trying to post from my phone just now. Multiple errors of different types. It's particularly frustrating because I come to places like this to get away from things that frustrate me. This is being posted from my laptop.
                  Thanks,
                  Aaron

I just got a new AFU symptom today. Usually the Forum link will show no new posts, but when I open the Tech Talk link low and behold there are new posts. Now the Forum link is indicating new posts in the Tech Talk section but there aren't any. :(

I mostly post to the forum on a PC and view the forum on a PC and iPhone. Pages take forever to load on both platforms, posts take forever to go through on my PC (sometimes I'll get a timeout failure, but if I open the page in another tab my post is there), uploading pictures often has issues, frequently I'll get server timeout errors while trying to refresh a page like the hosting servers are down. Overall, the usability of the forum has taken a major dump lately.
