KABD - Sigma Studio - Linux Mint

I wanted to jump in and say thanks for the information provided on this situation. After a lot of reading/youtubing I have Windows installed in Virtualbox and running cleanly. I have played around a bit and have managed to get to the point where I have access from Windows to any USB device that is attached to my system. In theory I would think this would mean I could plug in the programming device for the KABD boards and connect to them without issue. But, I'm wondering if anyone has actually tried that and whether or not they were successful or not. Any info on that will be greatly appreciated.

Running sigma studio under wine (in linux) appears to have issues with the USB driver:
Using windows under vmware inside linux most likely will work fine. I have loaded a windows "trial" version and used numerous USB devices and associated software correctly in Ubuntu. You could try this prior to purchase, except for the USB function. There is a utility to build a Windows 11 install without needing a microsoft account and hardware check, works well.

Well now - that's something new. Last time I built a WIN PC you couldn't even complete the install without having a license key. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the info.
PS - I would still like to know if anyone knows of a way to run sigmastudio in Linux natively as I feel certain that would still be more functional.

You don't have to have a windows license to install and use windows. You simply lose some cosmetic features until activation, otherwise it will function fine.

Thanks for the thoughts on running a VM WIN machine. Unfortunately that requires a WIN license which I don't have available. And adding the cost of purchasing one on top of this project is something I can't justify.

You should be able to run Sigma Studio in a VM hosted on your Mint install. https://www.hifiberry.com/beocreate/...e-sigmastudio/

I appreciate the thoughts on the WIN Laptop. But, stacking an extra $100 plus on top of this project just isn't in the cards in the current economic situation.

A cursory websearch will quickly show working refurbished Windows laptops advertised for sale at prices under $99/each. With that, you can run Sigma Studio, as well as free/cheap REW, ARTA, VituixCad, WinPCD, etc.

KABD - Sigma Studio - Linux Mint
I am considering building a set of powered speakers using one the the KABD amp boards with DSP built in. As I understand things at the moment the only way to program the DSP side of the board is with Sigma Studio. My problem comes in with the fact that I no longer run a Windows based anything as I have switched to running Linux on all of my computers. I have attempted to search out the ability to run Sigma Studio on Linux and have gotten pretty much nowhere. So, is it possible to run Sigma Studio on Linux? Or better yet; is there a Linux based alternative to Sigma Studio? Any information will be greatly appreciated.Tags: None
