I'm contemplating going with this sub, an SPA-1000, and the PE 4.0 CF sealed enclosure kit. Do I need the 5lbs of fill, if so, how does it change the sound? I currently have an HO 12" in a sealed enclosure with the 500 watt plate amp. Performance is surprisingly good considering the large size of our viewing area, but you know how us bass heads are...enough is never enough...

Model the effect of stuffing by changing the Qa value. 100 is a bare box, 50 is a lined box, 10 is a filled box, 5 is filled and compressed.Comment

You could always build it unstuffed to see if you like it. Then add to taste.
I have built good sounding subs w/no lining, or stuffing. In general, they both damp resonances.Comment
