In a sim, I skipped the notch (set R4 = 0.02 ohms) with no detrimental results. Just sayin'.

I did see this the other day and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it. I don't really know anything about the design other than what's in the write-up and I haven't come across any "official" build thread from the designer either. I don't know Keith personally but I have seen a few of his threads here on the forum.

Has anyone heard or built his "Small Batch" design?

Are you referring to R4 in Keith's Small Batch x-over?

The Small Batch flat out sounds great! He brought them to InDIYana 2021, and I would for sure recommend them.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! While searching for that design I did come across mentions of some of Keith's other builds at previous events. Nice to hear you got to listen to them in person!

I'll have to price these out compared to the Heliums and see what I want to do. I will say that the "Small Batch" design has a few things going for it aesthetically that would steer me towards it.

I tried replacing the 3-element notch w/just an L-pad (and a slight change to the series cap).
            The notch is VERY broad.
There might be a cheaper way to duplicate the Air filter's transfer fn.

The Small Batch design is about $100 more in parts cost but I think it fits better with what I'm looking to accomplish. Small Batch it is. Final Answer. :D

Thanks again everyone for all the suggestions!

Please post a build thread, or at least the final product. It's nice to see some new designs being built.

I will do a build thread but I likely won’t start the build for a few months. I first need to finish a sub build I’ve been working on. Hopefully in the meantime PE will have some sort of sale.

                      Unclejunebug,

I had the same question and ended up building Paul Carmody's S2000 MTMs from DIYSG. Great speakers! I recommend both the design and the DIYSG kit if it ever comes back in stock. Haven't heard the other choices in this thread but have been looking at the Speedster or Speedster TMM as a really interesting next design.
Planning to build a pair of subs - they aren't needed for the s2000s but they's let me experiment with other small monitors that need the bass help.

I took advantage of the Memorial day promo code and ordered parts for a Small Batch build. Looking forward to getting started.
