If it were me I'd build the most speaker I could with the budget. Even if it's a long way down the road to upgrade the amp, I'd have a long run plan to upgrade to get the eventual system that I want, whatever that happens to be.

I drive the Slapshot MTMs with our ancient Yamaha RX-596, it's rated for 6 ohms and above but we've have never had an issue driving them. You'd think that MTMs would be 4 ohm nominal, but Curt advised that the overall impedance is closer to 6 ohms.
