  • Cheap amps again at Radio Shack

Those 50W amps at Radio Shack are back in stock online at $14.97. The 2A 28/0/28 toroid is certainly worth the price by itself. Just move one connector to bypass the Homeplug power line networking stuff, and you'll have a decent 50W stereo bench amp. There is a long thread with close up pictures at the link:

Shipping for 2 of them was only $8.80.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Neil!

I've been meaning to pick one up for the transformer, but heh, I might as well see how it runs...

Nice pickup Neil, for $15, they're cheaper than Sonic Impacts! Not everybody needs "audiophile" all the time. I picked up 4

Thanks the the heads-up, Neil. A couple co-workers were looking for "that $15 amp Aaron's got on his desk driving 1950's Coral speakers" - which is one of these.

No, Coral 2 ways, but I'm pretty sure it's the same company... 5" woofer and 2" tweeter. They're quite mellow (rolled off high end and boosted midbass) which is perfect for a nearfield office setting. My office has a number of thrift store finds.

Got pics? I'm curious what these '50's buggers look like.

Just purchased two of them. I wanted 5 and some connectors total of 77 dollars . when I clicked it in only 2 left they did still honor free shipping for a 75 dollar order. so two plus the connectors cost me 34 bucks. they may be sold out now.

Am I the only one who lost out on this? I ordered yesterday, but I just got an email from Radio Shack saying they couldn't complete my order because they didn't have any more. I wasn't trying to be greedy. I only ordered 2.

So who here actually managed to get theirs? And who's the pack rat who hoarded so many that little guys like me couldn't get any?
