  • Anyone shop at Erse Audio website for xover parts?

Anyone? It seems that they have quality components at great prices---lower than other retailers offer.

Interesting, I have used Erse caps purchased from Diycable. But have never seen this website. I hope it pans out!

    - edit: I just googled and found at least a couple positive references to this site. No negative references. I think I will try them out!

I just looked at the site and it looks like some decent products and prices. Good to expand your supply choices. Brian

Re: Anyone shop at Erse Audio website for xover parts?

8/9/12 Three days ago I sent an email to erse audio about a question I had on their 3way crossovers. Per their "terms and conditions" page I waited the 48 hours. It is now just two hours short of 72 hours and I have not heard back from them. Had to make decision without their input.

Perhaps no one is at erse. Although I found no info on them at BBB, or ResellerRatings, I have noticed that Parts Express carries many erse inductors.

        ???

There have been several posts regarding the customer service at Erse. You can sometimes save some $, but the trade off is what you are experiencing. Buy from PE & get IMO the best service in the industry.

Erse primarily sells to retail vendors.

Yes, that's true and I'm one of them. I also wait sometimes for deliveries and responses to questions like others here have posted.
OTOH, their products are of very high quality. I just did some comparison mesurements between their Pulse-X PP film caps and their PET film caps and found something interesting about each's ESR performance vs freq.

                what was that then?

I'm also interested in Erse, they seem good quality and good prices for high value caps etc and they sometimes do specials. The other brand I think are comparable in price is Obbligato (caps)

The polyester film cap had significantly higher ESR than the prolypropylene film cap. Not a lot, but enough to be quite noticeable. I'll be creating a new thread soon showing the quantitative results.

Here's a link to that post

I go to erse for some specialty things now and then. On a recent crossover build, I got some of the copper foil and perfect lay air coil inductors, along with some of their pulse-x caps. As mentioned, very good quality, and some parts that P/E doesn't carry. It's good to have alternatives...

I have purchased from Erse often, but then, it seems like I have purchased often from all of the likely suspects. PE, Meniscus, Madisound, Erse.

Tops in service and accommodation is Meniscus, will be using them more, followed by PE and Madi, and Erse trailing. Just my experience, YMMV.

PE used when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.
Erse used when I am restocking the parts boxes and a back order is not critical.

Exactly as one would expect. Walt Jung wrote about this in the 1970s.
