  • How do i calculate overall impedance in a 2 way system

Lets say i had an 8ohm tweeter and a 4 ohm woofer and a crossover what would be the overall impedance. Im not sure how do calculate this any help would be appreciated.

Now you know why the rating is meaningless.

You could say it is 4 ohm below the crossover and 8 ohm above ;) Some companies would call that a 4 ohm speaker, others might say 6. If woofer were 8 ohm and tweeter were 4, most would probably call it an 8 ohm speaker.

Yup, that's how it is. It's an unfortunate "twist" of reality.

Your amplifier endures the heaviest load in the bass region. Hence, the load is effectively the sensitivity of the woofer.

Oh, if only it were that easy. :(

        This might help.

Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?
