I usually brush the lighter cuts (first coats) and pad the heavier cuts.
If you can spray, so much the better, but padding can achieve some pretty good results.
ArmRSeal is good stuff.
You can probably wipe it on and not have to worry about brush work but it is easy to apply either way. It's a bit thinner than most varnish.
You'll have a quart and a half left over! ;)
Put the left over in a smaller container or it will gel in short order. Fill the container as full as possible to eliminate trapped air. Better to waste a little than under fill a larger container.
