  • C-Killa RS150/ND28 TM is Finally Done!

Finally got enough good weather, pain killers and patience to finish my gift boxes for the doctors, the C-Killas(Write up here) I really like the ND28F-6, easy to work with. Very much like the Morel/Vifa silk domes. Very forgiving.

The Tigerwood boxes are already delivered. (We'll see if my oncologist still loves her Bose stuff!) The "Cherry" set (actually Pecan heartwood) are supposed to match up with some Canton towers the surgeon already owns. Now I get to wait on the next set of PET/CT scans this Monday to see if they did their jobs....

Very nice work Lou; excellent gifts.

Are those solid wood or veneer?

I also have to reiterate how easy the ND28 is to mount. I used the exact same method in the Canvas project, and it's hard to mess up if you have a hole-saw or Forstner bit and a 3/8" rabbet in the router. Piece of cake!

I am wishing you the best, Lou!

Click his link at the top, you can see, there's a picture of the cabinet w/o the drivers mounted.

            Lou,

That Tigerwood is gorgeous! Once your doc hears these, the Bose will be banished to her garage!

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

              Beautifully executed Lou!

I used the ND28F in my Dou-T project along with the Tangband W5-704D. I too though it was very easy to work with and sounded great, though I had a couple bad ones from the first batch they sold (which PE promptly replaced, no problem).

It's a very good combination with the Tangband, as Wolf can attest from his Canvas project. They make for a very easy to listen to combo.

Now you just have to work on your doc to replace those towers.;)

Louis, They are both paper backed veneer.

Actually Canton (German) makes some respectable commercial boxes.
I'm working a version of the audio "pusher" -- that first dose/taste is free..:D

                  Critofur,

Thanks for clarifying; I see now in the writeup that the construction uses mdf and ply, ergo the veneer.

                  Lou

I'm envious of your finishing skills.

Looks like today is going to be another scorcher; I used to live in Phoenix back in the early 80s so I don't envy you for that.

                  Take care,
                  Louis
