I was given a pair of the Dayton classic 12" woofers. I'm trying to figure out some kind of project to use them in. I looked on WinISD and chose "Dayton 12" from the driver database. It recommended a vented box size of 2.521 cu ft. (at 33.85). Checking the driver parameters it was using, they are quite different from the ones listed at the PE website for that woofer. Punching in the numbers currently listed with the driver, recommends a vented box size of 5.802 cu ft at tuning freq of 24.54. Quite a big difference, which do you use?
Or better yet, are there any existing successful designs using this woofer? I've read enough around here to realize that designing a 3 way crossover that will sound good is pretty much hopeless for a beginner, even using the fancy crossover software.
