  • Determining the Best Acoustical Treatment Locations

What is the best way to determine where to pl;ace bass traps in a room? I know the standard is in the corners or where 3 surfaces meet, but I was wondering inf there was some measuring technique that can help guide me...

I am not want of these audiophile snobs who think of Cello's when they think of bass. I like the solid chest pounding bass and my room has way too many issues that cancel out all the bass unless you are standing up against the walls.

My one sided vaulted ceiling is probably the colprit...

Haha, most audiophile snobs do not think of cellos when they think of bass. Even the morons over at stereophile usually run ridiculously low synth lines to test bass response.

That said, many speakers have unnaturally loud or resonant bass. This is partly due to the room, as you are aware.

Corners - no matter what the type - are the biggest culprit, because they allow pressure buildup and release. These are indeed the best places to place bass traps. I recently got some and the difference is astounding.

Usually very thorough treatment involves a trap in each corner, and one in the middle of each wall, as well as some on the ceiling (!)
    I am trolling you.

True, I should have said strin bass, but I figured that would confuse those not into classical...

I am hoping that I can kill what is deminishing my bass from my listening position. The room is completely devoid of any bass... I figure if I can kill one component, I should be able to bring my bass back.

Room modes can also totally destroy bass, so it's worth a shot.
