    yes, the one linked.

Thanks ill note that, and go with polyimide. Regarding crossover, I am still curious what the crossover point is with the actual crossover schematic for the Deltalite 12 and the Deluxe. But yeh I am guessing a compression driver at that price range won't reach down to 600hz.

I recall (from years ago, so take it with a grain of salt) that Zilch aimed for about 1200Hz crossover. That's very practical with that horn and the DE250 driver. With a higher order crossover, 3rd or 4th, you could probably cross at 1kHz with no problems.

        • Hi folks, which crossover would match up the best with flush mounted...
          • QSC 152i waveguide
          • DE250 CD
          • Kenwood 16" woofer from KL 888X (Trio T10-0105-05 8ohm)

          ...in a 3.23 ft3 internal 35hz tuned tower enclosure?

I found three 152i/DE250 crossovers in the OP to choose from:

          1) Deluxe
          2) Delux HO
          3) Delite 12
          4) Something else

Unfortunately I could not find any specs on the Kenwood 16".
But if it helps, it will someday be replaced by JBL 2226H 15".

          • Get the H290C waveguide from Wayne Parham and build the 4pi using the DE250 & 2226. No crossover design or guesses required since Wayne has already done the work. The extra $ spent on the new waveguides will be saved by not buying a bunch of "spare" crossover components to make the mix, match, and test method work. And the time you save has to be worth something.

Hah, just saw this. And I PM'd you earlier too on the other board.
              It's something I'm considering.
Even though that crossover is much more expensive, obviously.

I just really, really like the way the 152i looks.

                Well, I couldn't find a kick-***, proven crossover for 152i + 15" woofer.
And I couldn't afford the Four Pi this time around.
So I just sunk a large amount of cash on Econowave Deluxe (DE250, kappalite & crossover) and will re-use my existing 152i waveguides and 3.3 ft3 cabinets.
$702 shipped after using every discount I had.

Not sure yet what to tune the cabinets to. The entire front baffle will be re-done, so my options are open.
I have four 4" flared precision ports available to use. I figure two-each should minimize noise and reduce group delay.
                Any suggestions on enclosure tuning?

                • Tech Talk's thread-search function doesn't work too well because it only found five posts for keyword "screw".

Anyone able to tell me the best screw size & type to use with the QSC 152i waveguide?
And same for rear-mounting the 3012LF to an MDF baffle?

I'm thinking #8 5/8 Pan Head MDF screws for the rear mount 3012LF if using 3/4" MDF.
                  https://www.parts-express.com/parts-...0-pcs--081-422

And maybe #6 Flat Head screws for the waveguide?

                  • I am about to plunge into this Econowave project and have a question. On the Zilch crossover, the woofer looks to be 8 ohms. When I measure my OLA stamped metal frame 10" woofer, it measures 4.8 ohms. Are the 1.5mH and 12uf components correct for this impedance? Using an online crossover calculator, those values are correct for an 8 ohm load at 1200Hz. I need to order my components, but want to make sure prior to ordering. Thanks!

If the driver really is 8 ohms purely resistive at 1200Hz, that will work. You may get lucky, but I doubt it. Crossovers are designed for the actual driver complex impedance. Those online calculators are interesting but essentially worthless.

With all due respect, your post describes 5/8" length screws, but you link 3/4" length screws. I don't think they will work very well. Here's how I rear mounted a 12" woofer.

Francis, thanks for your reply. I have a question. If the online calculators are "essentially worthless", then how do you explain the fact that I get the exact same 1200Hz values as Zilch (1.5mH and 11.72uf) with an 8 ohm load using the 2nd order Butterworth design? I understand 8 ohms is most likely the nominal impedance of my woofer, I am just surprised that it measures at 4.8 ohms.
Design a 2-way high / low pass crossover with a range of choices for type and order.

                              • Hey guys, I now have the QSC 152i "clone" in my possession.
                                The B-52 PHRN-1014
                                Part # 299-2303
                                https://www.parts-express.com/b-52-p...t-on--299-2303

I bought one in case I ever want to add a center channel to my two Econowave Deluxe that use original 152i's.
Now I'm thinking of replacing my original 152i's with B52's!

Not only does it clone the original super inexpensive price (~$13 right now) but it sure looks exactly like my oem QSC 152i's that I have.
                                At least in shape.

The B52 is heavier, more sturdy, thicker material and generally looks more handsome, if I can call a waveguide that..
                                Pictures to follow.
Oh, and the B52 is 1/8" taller due to the 1/8" thicker flange.
                                Which is nice.
This makes the flange a true 1/4" thick so we can use 3/4" baffle and a 1/4" rabbetted cut to flush mount the B52 and match up with Zilch's original 1/2" baffle with rear-mount woofer.

I have a UMIK mic being delivered next week.
Has anyone compared the two horns together?
The original 152i vs the B52?
If not, then if someone can walk me through testing them, I'd be happy to post the results.
It's been a few years since I've used REW but I'm sure I'll pick it up quick enough.
I have never used it to measure response like Zilch did though. I just used it for measuring at the listening position.
