  • EconoWave 4x / JBL 228H

    [QUOTE=Zilch;1655955]

Zilch, did you ever come up with a crossover design for the Econowave 4x with the JBL 228H woofer and Selenium D2500Ti as shown in the left speaker of this picture? I know JBL has a crossover schematic for the AC18/95 here:

but that is with the JBL compression driver and such.

This EconoWave combo appears to be a great design for a relatively compact reference level Home Theater/ Music speaker. (With the assistance of appropriate sub-woofage of course :D )

    Cheers, Joe

    • Ikea Akurum cabinets?

Would one of these work for the standard econowave build:

They were mentioned in the PE cabs thread. I see one with 18" width, pretty close to the PE trap kit 17" width. Does the crossover design still have to be changed?
      Thanks!

I bet whatever differences there are between 17 & 18 inch baffle width is lost in the variability of the drivers and XO components. Go for it!

Keep in mind that PE trap cab isn't necessarily an optimal size for for any of the woofers Zilch put in it. But it was real easy to use and reuse. So a little bigger cabinet may not be a bad thing and probably has little effect at the XO frequency. In other words, don't worry too much about cutting up the box to make it smaller to match the PE trap cab.

That looks like a great way to get a decent cab on the cheap. A real bargain if you drive by and pick one up.

Wow. Now there's an idea. Not a bad shape for a cabinet at all.

This one is surprisingly similar to a box I just finished constructing, meant to include the toe-in angle:

I might've saved myself a lot of time had I known of these.

in 3/4inch board? If so, then time to look at their prices, too.

Define top performer, if SQ it is the deluxe is the best, if output the HP is the best, if bang for the buck the SR is the best.

by "top performer" I am referring to SQ. Which version of the deluxe econowave has the best SQ?

I believe the regular deluxe delivers the best SQ.

58 pages is nothing considering the thread covers what would be a >12 speaker designs.
