Hmm the inukes look intriguing and aren't too expensive.... Two nu1000s would work ok there... Will it do what I need it to do to keep the boxes the same size / active xover...?

If it were me I'd build the passive crossovers and probably use a single NU3000DSP to run them.
The passive crossover designed has the advantage of being designed to address both phase and amplitude through the crossover, most DSP or electronic solutions do not address phase, if they did they would be overwhelmingly popular.
If you don't have measurement gear I would strongly recommend you stick with the passive crossover, baffle size, and driver placement.

I had just planned to use the denon to power them, unless I have to do some weird dsp magic. Inuke 3ooo looks like its only 2ch too. I'd have l/c/r to power of I went dsp+passive route to boost the lowend

If by LCR you mean HT setup with bass management, there would be no need for the boost or bigger box - any of that really. If you intend to roll with the standard 80Hz crossover point the speaker should be -3dB @ 80Hz or some such IIRC. Sealed with a lean bass response would be just fine IOW.

With what you are building the center channel could be totally undesirable if you like a HiFi large center imaging type presentation. If you run sub/s up front then you can run even higher crossover if you like. I've been to this movie before. :D

If you're running a sub with these, then forget the ported option, and seal up the enclosure with a couple pounds of fiber fill on the inside. Let the subs do the heavy lifting, and you can throw a 1000W amp at the Deluxe, and they'll soak it up all day.

I'd still like a 'bit' of bass response from these guys--but I suppose my biggest concern is the mid-bass aspect. I'll likely keep them the same size and either poly-stuff or port for the 50hz value.

At least that saves me some time - dont have to rework the boxes or buy dsps heh.

I have 2 subs up front

and two hsu vtf-15h's in the rear. I've purchased an at screen and I'm going to build the wall forward a bit to allow for speaker placement behind the screen.

this is the basic idea -
i was going to go line array, but opted for pro-type instead. Once i have the final dimensions on the current guys im building, i'll be able to finish the plans for moving the wall forward.

Followed the project a long time before jumping in this february. Inspired by Gainphile, but went for BR tuned to 47hz. The finish is either love or hate I suppose, but we like it.

Love the sound. I must say I was a bit sceptical about how good a cheap CD like the Selenium could sound, but I shouldn`t have been. I will however try the B&C DE250 at one point in the future.

Anyone seen or heard of a 2 1/2-way econo, or a 2-way with two 12" in a MTM config...?

I have gone the DIY-route on all my speakers the last 3-4 years. Commersial speakers doesn`t appeal to me anymore. The Econo`s replace TABAQ with a 3" Tang Band, wich sounded lovely, but lacked "umpf". For my home theater I have built inConcert Miles (Beyma TPL-150H and two 15P80Nd), a speaker design from a fellow norwegian. The subs are two (soon four) Presicion Devices PD186 18".

Those look great, personally I tend toward dark anti reflective finished for HT type stuff but these are very very cool. Who did the pen work? Is that Sharpie?

Hey, no need for the cough . Clever solution / application. Results look great. I would never have thought of that.
I have seen some beautiful cabinets that looked like they had some airbrushed art, but your solution makes me rethink how one might accomplish a similar finish. Thanks for a thought provoking finish.

Teddy, I want to see pics of your Beyma setup.

We just built an awesome stand mount monitor using the Beyma and an Acoustic Elegance TD10M. The sound is amazing.

Posting a couple of pictures of the "Miles" here. Havent got any finish on them because they are going behind the screen when my room is finished. My room is only 12sqm atm, but is going to be about 27sqm when I get around to replacing the load-bearing walls, with beems. (unshure of the correct english word here..) The odd shaped subwoofer is made that way because I wantet to stack two in each corner and have one woofer next to floor and one next to ceilling, in an attempt to get more even bass-respons. Small footprint was also a goal. Havnen`t got pictures of the setup right now. These pictures was taken before everything was finished.

The designer of the inConcert Miles (Stig Erik Tangen) doesn`t do commersial speakers anymore, and have shared his "recipe" with us. The picture is gone from the website, but the rest is there. The inConcert Duke is also interesting. Featuring TPL-150 and two 12P1000Nd.

The WG on the Arcus (white stand mount above) is simply the stock WG painted white.

Those are massive speakers you have there. My friend here in town is upgrading his HT, and I know he'd love to see your set up. His will be in-wall, but I think he's leaning toward a 15" woofer and CSS Planar 1, which we now have on order. I can' t wait to begin testing that new CSS Planar 1. The Planar 2 looked incredible from the data Dave Thomas took a while back, and I understand the Planar 1 is designed for 500Hz operation.
