I think you are mistaken. TB uses copper-plated, but Seas are solid copper.

So......what ever became of this? It looks as though brass won out, but did anyone ever hear about the driver that was being "spec'd out"....did they make it? Who, what, where, when? Is there a cone material chosen yet? What happened?

I had to choose Brassnium to go with the screws. I had a choice of a Goldium tweeter but it was $25 more.

I might suggest aluminum plated with copper? It's a relatively inexpensive and simple procedure that would give an attractive look without the nasty expense of solid copper.

Re: CAST YOUR VOTE: Phase plugs AL or Brass
What hifi manufacturer (correct me if I'm remembering this wrong) used to make a speaker component out of a material that they did not want to disclose so they called it unobtainium ?
I forget, maybe it was one of the first beryllium tweeters or something like that.
Since then, I've developed ideas for several inventions that require unobtainium to work right. I gotta get some of that stuff. And soon!

Re: CAST YOUR VOTE: Phase plugs AL or Brass
If I had my choice it'd be copper, since I don't....brass it is. Yeah aluminum does go with any color, but if it was brass it might make you think a bit about what woods/finishes might accent that brass/black combo. The removable idea is a really cool deal, then you could machine a phase plug out of anything imaginable.

I would vote for aluminum.

In that case... Go with aluminum for sure. Silver will match anything, and it looks clean. Brass looks gaudy unless it is anodized another color.

Engineering and marketing are two separate things. This poll is all about marketing.

Re: CAST YOUR VOTE: Phase plugs AL or Brass
Maybe they're going to be made of aluminum no matter what, ad this poll is about color? If you were engineering a woofer, would you leave anything outside things that don't affect performance to a forum poll?
