Dreamweaver is indeed high quality. It's what I use to maintain my office's website.

I usually design a page (graphically) in photoshop, and then convert it to web format using appropriate tabular/layer format. The suggestions above are good for beginners - I'm no expert, but man are there a lot of rules and format constraints to generate a website that's both stylish and functional.

I don't currently have a website, when I did it looked really lame and took way too much effort to update, but that was 2001. If I were to start a new website I'd look at blogging software, Wordpress seems to be one of the best right now and it's free to download or you can use the online editor, they'll give you free hosting too, but the URL will be something like www.wordpress.com/dave'sspeakersite. It lets you design your site from a template and there are hundreds of templates to choose from, then you add customizations from there. The actual content of a blog is added very much the same way you add a post in this forum, you just type it in, add pictures and hit submit.

Yeah, I'm starting to sway towards paying my son to build one for me. I have a hard time not screwing up my Microsoft Office spread sheets. I think my spare time is going to be better spent doing things I enjoy. Like catching my MDF test box on fire heating it up!

Another alternative is to start a "blog". This requires no additional software beyond what you already use (Browser, some sort of basic photo manipulation software).

Weebly is about a simple as they come, although the free sites are a bit limited at times. It's fun to get a taste of having a web page, and it can be used for hosting images for posting on threads. One warning, weebly lets you create two domain names for free, but I haven't figured out how to delete one. I guess you only get two trys.:rolleyes: Admittedly the "Pro" service is pretty inexpensive.

For blogging, I also took the low effort approach of using the TechTalk blog. I hope more people start using it.

P.S. I am quite embarrassed by the condition (work in progress), but mine is ericedwards.weebly.com (no www.)
