  • OT: What other forums do you post on?

I curious what other forums people frequent (read, post etc). I'd love to find some more interesting sites to visit.

Some I post to (to get the ball rolling):
    • DIY Mobile Audio (car audio)
    • slashdot ("news for nerds")
    • owner's forums for my vehicles (great for DIY fixes.. found a $10 fix for my truck that would have been $$$ for a mech to diagnose)
    • Daily WTF (programming related)
    • DIY Audio

            Here.

            htguide.com
            hometheatershack.com

and umm, thats it. I hate most forums and most people who frequent them.

I used to be a member of myspecv.com a Nissan Sentra Spec-V owners group, that for a car forum, was pretty well run and full of useful info. Till the owner shut it down because one of the forum members was stalking him and his wife.

            :( Forums are bad, mmkay?

Hmm, lemme think. Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Ars Technica, Mac Rumors, Fark are the rest of my regulars.

Life is more than the speakers for me I guess. Gizmodo does run the odd audio-related post and the posts there really get me up on the DIY soapbox.

I was a veteran on the old MAD BBS board, and this one. Now it's just this one.
I don't have time to keep track of more than one, and most of the guys I know in the hobby post here.

Re: OT: What other forums do you post on?

Just this one and HTGuide, now. I used to post over at DIYaudio.com, but I found it frustrating that a certain member would use every thread as an opportunity to aggressively advertise his single-driver speaker kits. And then they split off a forum JUST for multi-way speakers, and he still did it; and whenever someone would ask a question about crossovers, he'd announce that he thought crossovers were evil, and would proceed to push his single-driver kits even more. So... enough of that place.
Isn't it about time we started answering rhetorical questions?

Sounds like an opportunity. Plenty of free forum software out there. You'd just need a domain and a hosting package.

Hmm, which one? There have been a few kicked off since the change to the new forum.

I'm surprised no one posted any wood working forums or any type of home improvement type site.

Be careful in how you cast your unwelcome disparaging remarks. My friend Jim85IROC has sometimes been active here (and on other audio boards), has been far more active as a moderator at 3rd gen, and is most certainly not a "hack" in anything that he does.
