  • New Web Site

I'm looking for freeback on my Web site I'm currently building.
Please check out my site (link at bottom of this post) and let me know what you think, should I add/change/delete anything, Am I heading in the right direction or should I find something else to spend my time on?

Thanks (All input good or bad is appreciated).

Show off!! (joke!) Looks cool, only thing is it comes up to wide for my screen, as in I have to scroll left or right to see the whole page. Seems like the bottom two pics aren't spaced over to the left enough. Other that that, thumbs up!

Just what I needed...another speaker site to link to and wish upon:D!
I think it looks great. One thing I can think of to add might be a "links" section.

          Re: New Web Site

Speaker building is one of the hobbies that I enjoy. So I thought I might set up a Website to have a central location for me to store information about my many speaker projects. I also hope this information might be of some use to others who enjoy this hobby.
If there is any specific information about Speaker building you would like to have included on this site please shoot me an E-Mail (click my name on the left under copyright info), and I will make every effort to add new items to this site. Also, I should point out that I'm very bad using the written English language, plus I'm a very poor speller. Please over look any errors I might make and send an E-mail to correct me.

          Good site, Ed!

I've proofread your intro and posted it above, feel free to use that, if you wish.

hey - nice work. just two suggestions... first, you might want to use an email form to have people send you messages. it's more of a hassle, but it cuts down on spam because your address isn't as obvious. second, you might want to add a 'quick links' type of navigation bar to all of the different projects, kind of like a table of contents, especially for people with slower connections. thanks again for putting it up, you've got some good stuff up there already.

There's one major error located near the top of your home page --> "As such I'm a Noobie and have much to learn, I hope sharing information I learn over time might be of some help to others."

There's no way you can call yourself a noobie/newbie with such amazing builds under your belt!:D

Mainly '"STROMS" on 2010 PE cover' Is the first thing I see that is in error.

Second is that "Soph(o)mores" is without the middle 'o' in your spelling.

                    Good 'nuff, dude!:D

                      Re: New Web Site

                      My 2 cents...

                      1. The top area is a waste of space because you have nothing there except the "search" box. Maybe you should remove that area altogether and use that space for content OR see point 2.
                      2. Maybe you can consider moving your logo in the top area.
                      3. Viewing your logo [coat of arms?] actual sized - looks OK, but the way it is resized now, there is loss of detail so maybe you should do something about it.
                      4. Consider using the left pane for just navigation links [and the like] and consider sub navigation links too.
                      5. You have a 3 paned layout but you are using the middle and right pane for the same thing - showing pics of builds. Do you really need 3 panes or can you make do with 2 panes?
                      6. Layouts of items should either be lists or grids. Yours is neither.
                      7. Of course all of these nitpicks [IMO] are not your fault because you are limited by the templates provided by google but within those limitations I'm sure there is lots of scope for improvement.
                      8. Please consider changing the background color of the content area because the font color used is black and so it's dark color on dark color.
                      9. Please consider removing the explanations to people who visit your website - on how the website is laid out and where they have to go to see what. The layout [and also navigation and labels] of your website should be such that that it should be intuitive and people should have no problem finding what they need without you having to explain to them where what lies.

                          Re: New Web Site

Many thanks to all, it has been very helpful. I have made some changes, plus I'm working on many more. I have not used HTML for over 10 years now, so I'm having to relearn a lot. Also Google's editor is very limited and some options are not easy to include (comment page, mail page, etc).
                          Please keep the comments comming.

                          Once again many thanks,
                          Ed

                            Hi Ed,

Nice site. For someone starting in 2008, you certainly have been busy!

Say, I noticed on your page about the "Dayton Storms" speakers, that your link to the artist's page is dead:
Information about James Brown (artist) can be found at WWW.BBPUBLISHING.NET.

Looks like James has closed his Web Site, and retired. Shame, he is a really good artist/painter. Guess I need to take out his link.
