  • Here we go! I theorize: "Branches"...

I don't know how economical this would be to build, as it has some costly chunks of copper in there.

All centered on a 40" x 8" baffle, with the OX20 offset one inch and rounded with 1/2" on it's mounting. All other drivers surface-mounted. Vented chamber at 45 ltrs with medium fill, the sealed is 6 ltrs stuffed.

Have a look! The mid's range around 1 kHz was the trouble spot due to diffraction, and I had to use a notch to tame it. Sensitivity is a fairly low 81dB, but these will likely take the juice to get them loud enough. I simmed in sections, and used the optimized MTM on-axis section in the MTMWW sim with the woofers sim being off-axis aimed at the listener. Offsets are about the same really...

    Graphics:

As before, the 'theorizations' are all preliminary, so build and tweek if you dare! Other than the specified parts, use what your heart and pocketbook desires.

Hope this is what you guys wanted,;)

    They would ceretinly be interesting.

The W6-1139 is certily not given enough street cred.

This looks like one of those speakers that if you have a big amp, would be a hoot to listen to and build. It would look cool if nothing else. It is the polar oppsite of an avantgare horn setup :p.

I would imagine the sound up-front to be extremely open and responsive. I know the W6'es are "fast and tight" , and the ND105 will keep pace. Not familiar with the tweeter.

baffle kinda like attachment below? its there just hard to see. no real measurments on the baffle just quick and dirty.

so about $300 - $350 in drivers (while on sale) and x-over parts, plus wood and extras per speaker

Nice, I think my wife ordered the ND105s for me. Do you have any plans to build wolf?

Why not use P-cores (or other solid cores) for the 8 and 10 mH coils? Just curious.

AAAAAGH!!! You're killing us with the arboreal references!

Still, sounds like a driver combination that would make a killer speaker.

You ain't kidding that that's a lot of copper! Wow!

Driver positions are also posted at my photobucket link for the project pics above, and here:

The 1139 position is on-center for the pair, not per driver, and they are as close as you can get them. Therefore about 1/4" in between the subs.

I chose the cheaper coils. The P-cores were more money for those. The ERSE 18AWG steelies were about half-cost.

I keep thinking that if they are to 'sway in the wind together', that they should be aptly named as a related project would be. I hadn't though of 'Saplings' yet, but that might be the next smaller one.:D:rolleyes:

I also concur with what DanP posted in the other thread wrt the MMTMM's. The baffle-width and diffraction combo made for a hard-time with the ND105-4's...

Wolf, I have never built a crossover before, I am having some issue trying to find components in the values that you stated. Is there any way that I can convince you to help me? Can you mix different brand/grade caps and such?
