My personal opinion is that the midrange clarity of the Peerless drivers far exceeds that of the Daytons. Hence I would gravitate toward the AR.COM kit. No question in my mind.

I have the same 6.5" Dayton woofer used in the BR1 speakers, in use as a compact subwoofer. The bass is pretty good in a .7 foot vented box. But the heavy paper cone that allows good bass in a small box, plus the plain motor with no faraday ring is not up to the task of the midrange.

    Again, my opinion.

BR-1 vs. AR.COM Kit by EFE Technology

I looking to build a set of speakers for a friend who is going off to college and I'm debating between the BR-1's (with Dennis Murphy's revised crossover) and the AR.COM kit at Madisound. Any thoughts?

I built a pair of the BR-1's a few months ago and they do sound good; but the Peerless drivers in the AR kit have a more finished look to them. Can anyone comment on how they'd compare sound wise?

    Thanks!
