  • Belvedere and Campanile (My take on D8's)

    OH NOOOOOOO's!!!!!!!!!!

Well. Depression has set in. I've been noticing a lack of "presence" from these guys, and as much as I hate to say it, Don (a buddy who warned me of this after I built them) was right. The surrounds came clean off the frames.

SOOOOOooooooo.....not sure what to do. Do I buy new ones? Do I reglue? Or do I put a brand new setup in here? Are there any other MTM's I can put in 4.2 cubes tuned to about 30Hz?

    poop.

I've never heard of any similar problems like this with the Dayton classic series. If the spider is still securely attached the voice coil should still be in alignment, and you can re-glue the surround.

I would contact PE, and see what they say. Last time I had a problem with a driver they just sent me a new one and let me keep the damaged one. I'm betting they'll do the same here.

That's what I thought, and all 4 are doing it. and it's so clean. the surrounds came off SO CLEAN! and when you pull up on it there are some gooey bits still attached but it doesn't take much to pull it up.....

Re: Belvedere and Campanile (My take on D8's)

Well, the second set of drivers have done the same thing. All 4 of them have either separated or began separating again.

I don't want to have to keep doing this every 3 months.

          I am not happy.

Anybody have any ideas on what drivers I could replace them with? I don't mind reconstructing a crossover for it to work. I just would hate to have these beautiful towers and not be able to use them due to poor quality on Dayton's part with this specific driver....
