  • Dayton RS28F

Here's a thread http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=77158.0 on a design I did with the new RS28F. I'm thinking of making the design public domain if anyone is interested in building a pair. GR Research also has a kit design with the Anarchy woofer using a smaller cabinet and their own tweeter.

Very nice! They look very good in the PE curved cabinets.

I'm sure the dip in response between 2kHz and 3kHz was intentional. What was the thinking there?

Serendipitous that the RS28F came out shortly before the Anarchy woofer - one of the few tweeters that match up well to make a 2-way with that woofer (and the precursor, the EX-6.5).

Where can I find a data sheet about the tweeter GR Research is offering, and, is there a link to their kit?

I wanted to avoid any peaking in the off-axis response. The main issue was the tweeter's response on-axis versus off-axis and the upper end response of the woofer.

          Hi Rick,

What are you findings regarding their sound. Mid fi, High end? and how good are they in the bass end of things.

          Regards,

          Stu

There's a thread at Audio Circle on Danny's design but I don't know if his site has any information.

I found it to be pretty good but the upper end response limits your choice of tweeters. I think it really depends on your application. An example would be a 2-way that's being used with a subwoofer. In that case you don't need the extra excursion and there are better choices for less money (such as the Dayton RS180). Bass extension is good but the definition / detail isn't on par with my reference 7" Scan-Speak Illuminator.
