during my session the power supply fan did not come on and was only slightly warmer then abient. the amp heat sink was not warm to the touch. the hs fan runs full-time.
anyone need any fuses? i ordered through amazon first based on the pretty picture and got a whole pack of 4.7 ato 32vdc fuses.

    32v

32v is the theoretical ideal based on the gain setting of the feedback divider and should be no problem with the fan cooled heatsink.

am using a 10amp. have the power supply set to 31.4 vdc. should i lower it? if so why? 85db was only maybe 1/3 volume. too much headroom? played it loud 85db plus for about 3 hours. james taylor, allison crouse, larry carlton, acdc, sade, malissa ethridge, soundtrack to somwhere in time. i have learned that everyone records with different priorities.

slow boat from china got may amp here yesterday. bought a few each 10,15,20,25 amp ATO 32vdc fuses and fuse holder. added a mp3 input to the front panel, changed the off/on to the dayton 2pole after to RS proved not to be tough enough. its running but will test for real later when everyone is up.

    yes, i had help

the other good thing is, while performing the tests for sure, the power supply shut it self down. when i turned it off and back on, it was obvious that it was self protecting. thats a good thing. when i get back to it, i'll slip some shrink wrap over the terminals to insulate them. i picked up a new switch and a case mount mini plug input at pe ( its so hard to drive by without stopping) . i just need a light now to put in the 3/4 inch hole where the old switch was.

to be honest, i think i might have touched the case input hot to the case on the power supply. if so then it surly sent quite the shock to the board. when i get the new one i will insert a fuse and protect the terminals on the input.
I am hoping you did something like the above. I did not like that it ran a hour then died. the above reason for death is reassuring. You should be fine with the fuses I picked for you. I went with them in case the death reason was a voltage spike. I did not want a 250 volt ac fuse. Because it would be able to pass the high voltage on. The dc I picked don't like anything over 40 volts ( safety margin they can do a bit more then 32 volts) so you get a little more protection from over voltage.

Sounds like your problem was a short not a voltage spike.

got an assortment of 6 different amps, and an inline holder for about 12 bux. littlefuse via amazon.

Now that you see how fun chip amps are, I suggest that you revisit the LM3886 "gainclone". You can buy them assembled, as mono boards without onboard power supply, for around $15/channel shipped. Build a simple linear power supply and you will have more power and cleaner output than the class-D amp that you have now.

Where did you see these at that price??

    thank you.
Fuse ratings are in amps (current not voltage). Voltage ratings are typically not meaningful or insignificant, at least as long as the rated voltage is not exceeded.

btw, the only reason i turned the ps that way was to help ventilation.
it did sound nice for a hour. cant wait to get it back up.

    these will handle 32volts from

    1 to 40 amps I would buy a lot

    3a
    4a
    5a
    7.5a
    10a
    15a

better they blow then the amp board. most likely 10a is the right one but i would work my way up. I don't really know why the first amp board smoked itself.
