  • Are the Euro drivers going to get cheaper?

Maybe so, thanks to the collapse of socialism in Europe.

It sure would be nice to see the SEAS and ScanSpeak drivers come down to reality.

Then again, our pending economic tsunami due to massive deficit spending might negate the effects. Let's hope not.

Re: Are the Euro drivers going to get cheaper?

I posted something a couple months ago that Euro drivers should be going down due to the exchange rate being much more in our favor ... but prices haven't changed yet. I'd wager the only thing that has changed is a nice increase in profit margins for Euro driver resellers.

I've heard that their cost is due to the fact that they aren't made in Asia, their attention to detail is very high, and they don't exactly use cheap materials.

It also seems that they aren't afraid to spend money on R&D.

*EDIT* Doh!! The exchange rate should affect the price, regardless of initial production cost.

I'd definitely rather do business with the "Euros" than the Chinese.

I've been thinking about it for the past few minutes. It would be sweet if Revelator prices come down. :p

My guess is that if anything, the Euro stuff will increase in price. Inflation is the driving factor in our price increases domestically. The more money Washington prints, the less its worth.

You don't seriously believe the possible benefits of a downturn in the Euro will make its way to us, do you? Honestly, I find it difficult to comprehend how anything is manufactured in the EU; their tax burden seems to be high enough to crush any dreams of a start-up happening.

Oh, I doubt it. I'm still waiting on cheaper inductors since the bottom fell out of the copper market. Well, I mean, it's up again, but inductors never went down...

I believe you are correct Robert.

I just read an article about the program to fund the debt . . . guess who's securing the $1,000,000,000,000 loan?

                        Germany? The EU?

                        Think again!!

                        It's you and me.

It costs $90,000 to buy a trucking license in Greece.

I thought we didn't have any money, until you reminded me that they just print what they need to cover their "shame."

The Fed's move to back the euro defense plan reopens a program put in place during the 2008 global financial crisis under which dollars are shipped overseas through foreign central banks. In turn, these central banks can lend the dollars out to banks in their home countries that are in need of dollar funding in so-called swap agreements.
The Fed said action is being taken "in response to the reemergence of strains in U.S. dollar short-term funding markets in Europe" and to "prevent the spread of strains to other markets and financial centers."

It's an irrational market, not really related to exchange rates, etc. For as long as I can remember, it's been cheaper to buy Euro drivers here in the US than to buy them in the countries where they're made. Some Europeans buy them here, ship them to Europe and save money. Go figure....
