  • DCX2496 to non-pro amp?

The unit auto-senses what you have on the outputs and adjusts the level accordingly, right? So, if I use these: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=240-428

To connect the outs to the ins on my non-pro amp, the levels will be appropriate? Do I still need attenuation?

I'll control the volume through a mixer (Xenyx 1204 USB) before going to the INs on the DCX...

    You'll be fine.

The DS24/26 does the same thing, as a side note.
    I am trolling you.

You probably will (still need attenuation). To get the best performance (particularly lowest noise) from the DCX it is necessary to watch levels carefully. If there is too much gain following the DCX then you will (have to) set input levels too low, and noise will result. On the other hand you must leave enough headroom for any equalization boost (dipole equalization, for example) or you'll get clipping. Getting the best out of the DCX2496 is *all about gain staging* . . .

Those adapters will work fine, keep the input signal to the DCX below digital clipping(0db) and you'll be fine, any other level adjustments necessary can be made inside the DCX.

Since the Behringer DCX is a 24 bit digital processor, if the peak level was -24 dB then the DCX would be reduced to a 20 bit signal, correct? (6 dB per bit).

            Yes, but . . .

For a lot of reasons "24 bit" devices do not realize their theoretical SNR, and the DCX is no exception. Consider this (from the DCX2496 manual):

            Dynamic range . . . 109 dB
            Input noise . . . -90 dBu (@ +22dBu > 112 dB)
            Output noise . . . -90 dBu (@ +22dBu > 112 dB)
