Man, that is stingy! Sounds like an early internet fee structure!

Time for people to do-away-with these large corporations... and boycott BP in the meantime!

This is something to complain about, seriously? Our local provider charges:

          $35/mo - 500MB
          $40/mo - 1GB
          $65/mo - 3GB
          $75/mo - 'unlimited'

A 10% discount applies if you bundle with a $35/mo ADSL line.
PS: data roaming outside of the province / in the US: $3 per megabyte!

AT&T's rates and fairly cheap add-on quotas seem pretty reasonable in comparison.

Actually, plans along these lines have been commonplace for years, though the fees and data allowances have varied. Operating a nationwide wireless telecom system is expensive, and the additional load placed by the iPhone has swamped their networks. AT&T is left with two options: Either restrict their customers' usage, or completely rework the entire system from the ground up.

We are so far behind countries like Japan and Korea, it's ridiculous.

I had $20 a month, unlimited, high-speed broad-band in S. Korea 4 years before it was even offered in my city back here.

I've had my iPhone 3GS since the day it came out and I've used 9GB of data. That's .75GB per month. I consider myself a very heavy user; however, I also connect to WiFi whenever possible. I really think it would be quite a task to use 2GB per month. That being said, it saves me $5/month from the $30/month unlimited data I have now.

Last I heard, Japan doesn't have very good penetration of Internet into the homes, but they have had superior internet to cell phones. Maybe we are catching up with the iPhones, etc.

Oh, that's for iPhones and such. When I first read this post, I thought it might have been for normal home non-wireless access, which would have ridiculous. At home I use 2 gigs in a day.

I'm a holdout that only uses my phone for talking. I don't need apps or internet.
