    Thank you Chris.

I have all of my panels cut and laid out for driver holes and ports. I also put one of my routers in my router table.

I still have to pick up a 3/8" router bit.

Just waiting on parts and pieces.

Hey guys, is there a reason for the iron core inductor for the ntn's crossover? Is it due to the resistance? I might build a ntn soon.

I think it's just to keep the cost down.

          That's a 2.0mH coil with a DCR of 0.3 ohms. It's $8.

You CAN use the #12 foil (air-core) with the same parms if you want. It's $80.

Chris is their any special orientation between the 2 inductors for the ntn? Does the air core need to be situated in any particular way to the iron-core?

Back up half a dozen posts or so. I know the I-core is kinda large. In my example above, the I-core has to be the "tire" (imagine that the windings are a VERY low profile, wide tire), and the high pass shunt the doughnut.

My parts and pieces arrived today.

Those woofers are tiny. But they look cool.

I am going to start laying out my crossovers and finish assembling and cutting the holes for the drivers in my cabinets this weekend.

Are you going to flush-mount the woofers, or recess them? It seems that the recess would be quite a challenge as it's not round. I'm guessing everyone is flush mounting them?

My crossovers are done. Hoping to finish the enclosures some time this weekend, if time and weather permit.

Flush mount is usually taken to mean that the top of the flange is flush with the cabinet (what you're calling recess). Surface mount is used to describe mounting "on the surface" without a rebate/recess.

Most so far have surface mounted because, as you stated, flush mounting is a bit fiddly.

Just ordered all the parts for the Nano build. I decided to go ultra-cheap and went with the original 6-element crossover. I figure for a desktop PC application, it should be more than good enough. And to show just how cheap I'm going, I splurged for the 60-cent press-fit terminal cups for the cabinets.

I did want to make a few changes, however. First, I wanted to lower the height of the drivers so the tweeter was at ear level while seated at my computer. I figure that would take them down maybe 2 inches. Then, I was going to change the port to front-firing, so I'd have to drop that down as well. The terminal cup would then likely have to go above the port location on the rear of the cabinet. No big deal, but I figured I'd post it here to see if anyone sees any potential problems with this configuration.

Aside from that, I'm really looking forward to the sub-40Hz bass out of these little 4-inchers. Wish me luck!

EDIT: Added image of proposed driver and port mods. Moved the brace up above the woofer and made it wider. I think I'm going to just use Velcro and attach the Xover to the port tube itself.

Do you have a picture how you laid them out. This is my first PTP crossover and I am struggling a bit with the lay out.

                            Thanks,

Somewhere on Zaph's site there's an write-up on flush mounting. It is very important for tweeters, but not really important for woofers.

This is my ntn x-over: I did move the smaller coil over a bit more, bout as much as I could:
