Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
I'm currently building a piece of furniture for my youngest son. ntns up after that.
I have parts for a set of ntn's and a set of Nano's. Will build both.
Thinking about some of Lou's comments and may tune the ntn's a little bit higher (F3/F10 ~40/33).
Also thinking about a cabinet similar to this http://www.avalonacoustics.com/image...ct/aspect1.pdf.

I bought the set with upgraded crossovers and did MTM and will report back when I get it finished! My total build costed me $230 for material and that is not including the enclosure for them.
You certainly can't make them any more narrow as the inner flare for the precision flared port barely fits in there as it is, unless you were to trim it.
Also Chris, you might want to add that these sound so amazing compared to my entire home theater, that I've gone and sold it all.
The guy is coming to pick it all up this week. 4 Polk Monitor 40's, a Polk CS1, a pair of RM40T's, and a Klipsch Sub10. These two NTNs sound better than all of that combined excluding the sub. These are my benchmark for any speakers I build in the future. If these drivers ever go on sale again, I'm seriously building another pair.

I back mounted the woofer using some aluminum bent to hold them tightly in place. The inlay is cut from catalpa (cigar tree) and the remainder is maple ply. I used the eight piece cross over and mounted them a removable back panel.
Thanks

Here's a list of members who I THINK have built one of these ND105-4 designs. If you're not on the list, please add your name.
13 Nano Neos (that I know of - not counting mine):
kornphlake (2010)
johnnyravo (2010)
---k--- (2010)
mikejennens
cliffburge - "This is an good design with high value."
lostboy77 (soundbar? - built the Pico Neos though!)
justinL - black finish
patrickm - tall slim tower version
Drew - "much bigger than they have any right to sound."
MLS - "image very well and would blow somebody away when you tell them that they cost less than $ 75"
Tim - (user - "tdv") front vented, hidden ND105 frame, IMO the best looking Nano Neos yet
KeviN
ericJ
5 on deck:
DIYNut - XOs done
jmw - PE sent wrong caps
zomby
Soundslike
fastbike - lots of parts
8 ntn:
hyperlite (2010)
cooper (2010)
django (2010)
cliffburge - CC (horizontal) version
isaeagle - ". . . they keep asking about the sub. NO SUB ON!"
GregK (out of the blue! - NO warning!) - "They sound very nice."
Xtreme - finished, and they're GONE already!
"I am VERY impressed with the sound . . . incredible to believe that these are only two 4" drivers . . . fills the entire room with very detailed, excellent sound and enough bass presence to not need a sub."
"These sounded better than the RM40T's I bought a while back, and those have a $1150 MSRP. The staging is excellent, and every detail is perfectly reproduced. Nothing short of spectacular. I kept forgetting that my sub was turned off. I ran a few bass tests tones through these and they can definitely play musically down to 32hz. I seriously had to check my receiver's settings 3 times to make sure my powered sub was off."
"The . . . response is very flat with no undesirable peaks, and they sound VERY large . . . fills the room and with such elegance and accuracy that you really have to hear them to believe it. I'd rather scrap my entire Polk Audio Monitor 40 based home theater and use these two instead"
Herman Trivilino - calling a physics classroom home, with visible crossovers
4 up next:
cwad - XO's done
justinL - thinkin about it
nick
fastbike - gettin' close to starting

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
Tdv,
Those are beautiful. Nice work! I can see the sealant on the tweeter assuming you sealed the woofer in as well. I thought I was hearing distortion in the speakers the other day. Turns out I didn't have the woofers screwed down tight enough and the frame was developing a high pitched buzzing. Couple of half turns with a screw driver and problem solved. Hope your mounting is firm

TDV. Those look awesome. Very nice woodworking. I love how your crossover looks. I had a tough time getting my 8 piece to fit on the 3 X 4 board that would just fit through the woofer opening.
I look forward to when they go on sale again also.
MLS.

Here's my album for this project by the way. Too many pictures to post individually. Start from the last picture to see my progress.
