Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
Haven't read all the pages yet(I plan to), and I was wondering if the tweeter need to be offset from the center if the enclosure/driver alignment will be vertical for the ntn?

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
Last weekend I was able to get the woofers out of the enclosure. Going around the edge of the woofer frame with a razor blade did the trick! I added a small handful of polyfil behind the woofers. Listened for a bit and it seemed to bring out the soundstage and bring a bit more definition to the bass. Then I added a small handful to the bottom of the enclosure, none of it blocking the port in anyway and it seemed to tighten the sound up a little more. This is all very nearfield listening as they are desktops for me. I'm only a few feet away while listening due to available space. I continue to be impressed by these speakers. Probably not everyone's cup of tea but have really enjoyed listening to fml by deadmau5 on these. Can be found on grooveshark.

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
Well...I promised photos of a finished NTN by today ..and here they are..NOT! Buddy got busy on other projects and says he'll have the cabs to me by this weekend (does he not know how impatient I am???)....Well, to not have a lull in the action, I've decided to build the BAMTM...so, that's what I'm working on in the mean-time (cabinet construction, parts aren't here yet)...also, buddy's church had some Peavey PA's from 1980ish hanging on the wall and he volunteered me to strip 'em down and paint them white...has anyone ever seen the quality of construction on their boxes?? Lots of filler..that's all I can say about that. Well.. no promises this time, but I HOPE to have finished photos up this time next week..BTW...Where is everyone else's photos of the NT's and NTN.. let's see 'em!
Happy Building,
Chris

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
I decided to add two more coats of paint to mine. I just wasn't happy with the way they looked, and I figured now's the time to do it before installing the drivers, terminals, and xover boards.
It's been really humid here lately and it takes quite a while for paint to dry.

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
Wife picked up a twin size foam mattress pad from Target, that fine french store, for $9.99. I lined the inside of the neos and sealed up the last panel on each cab. Hit the outside with some water putty and it's drying now. I'll hit the baffle roundovers today as well. Then I'll seal the front baffle with a 50/50 glue/water mix, then paint. The rest will be veneered.
It's finally coming to a close!

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
The shelf is 20 1/4 deep. I was thinking that would still allow me to port to the rear of the enclosure. Visually I like the narrow baffle.

Any glaring issues with that set of dimensions that I may be overlooking that you can see?

The only way to get a discount now is to buy 10+.
LAST year they were on sale for FOUR months (Jan/Feb & again in Mar/Apr), at $12 a pop, and I only bought 2 of them.
This year they were $15 and I bought 8 of 'em.

The mishap I mentioned earlier: I accidentally let the backs of the cabinets rest on a support block while the paint was still wet. Ouch! When the paint had dried those small support blocks were "glued" to the back of the cabinets. I knocked them off with a hammer and they took some of the MDF with them, leaving a gouge. Like I said, OUCH!

Re: on Sale - $55/pr (drivers & XO)
If I'm seeing Afrikan art, seems like X's cabs would fit right in there. That's what they reminded me of.
A lot of the wood carvings are from the Soloman Islands. They do a lot of carving with ebony wood. I had a relatively unique childhood. My parents sold everything they owned when they were my age and bought a sailboat. My brother and I spent six years on it doing a circumnavigation of the world with them. Most of the carvings were traded for with things we had onboard that the locals needed. Anything we picked up had to be small as there isn't much extra space on a small sailboat with 4 people living in it.
