He has a center channel already. I may end up eventually end up building one for him though. I've noticed Chris seems to quote whoever last posted when he posts but I usually figure it out pretty easily based on the context of what he is saying.

When you router out your ports it's safer to put the port pipe through a scrap piece of plywood with a hole in it, then clamp. In your picture your are one step from slipping and getting a roundover in the leg.

Otherwise these look great. If you fasten your front baffel on with socket head cap screws you can use the protruding socket head to secure magnetic grill covers.

Got one box done but as I was cutting the hole, I made an oopses and the tweeter now sits on-top of both woofers :D . Back to square one!

Note: broke the dremel as well.

          Mikers,
I guess I am not completely following you? The board I was flush trimming in the picture was clamped to the work table which in turn itself was clamped to the saw horses. It was clamped that way when doing the roundovers also. I'm not seeing how it would go anywhere. I'm not doubting you're right I just haven't imagined the scenario where the router starts nibbling my leg from your description.

1 clamp is holding it and you are pushing on unsupported work with a heavy router. So if the clamp vibrates loose, the piece drops, router comes down, you stop it with your leg (worst case, best case you break off the corner of your baffle). Now if you have a scrap piece of plywood (or MDF) and stick the port through a hole your work piece is supported all around and not relying on a clamp, it won't fall. Much safer. hey, I'm a construction manager, I look at safety all the time.

Great progress by the way, I'd like to convince my friend he needs a set to go with his new 55"

Like so (I use my small and light trim router for these, if you have the luxery get one, you'll love it)

Thanks mikers, I follow you completely now. You are correct that would be safer and I will do that next time. Just wasn't visualizing it before. I did clamp as close in as I could and was careful to avoid too much pressure on the work. Thanks also for the comment on the progress. I keep thinking I should be further along but some measured slowness has given me time to think and avoid a few mistakes already in the process. My dad is wanting grills on the nano neos and he wants that set white with white grills to blend in with the wall color on the back wall. Haven't looked for white grill cloth yet. Any suggestions anyone?

Nevermind about white grill cloth partsexpress has it. I thought it would be a rare color choice for some reason.

Measure twice cut once! The dimensions should be somewhere on page 3 or 5.

                • Finally finished my pair of NN

Build pictures are here (album is marked "public" so no FB account required):

I used the original crossover; they are a definite step up from my old Altec Lansing 221 computer speakers.

Very nice end result Kevin! They are beautiful! Especially liked the reference to "curling" brushes for a size reference....of which I've never seen in person! lol.. Nice Work!

                    • Ooooops, we both screwed up.

Well, I feel a little stupid after the last few days.

Here are my "crossover on a stick" version of the original Nano Neo's crossover.

Hey, something's missing there, isn't it? When I ordered the parts, I wrote the part numbers down, and in doing so, somehow ordered two 33 ohm resistors as opposed to two 3.3 ohm resistors. The decimal point blended into the bottom hook of the second 3, and there you go; a royal screw-up. So I will attach the 3.3 ohm resistors once they get here, hopefully tomorrow.

PE actually sent me one 10 uF and one 8 uF caps instead of two 10's like I ordered on my original order, but after emailing the customer service dept. on Monday, the replacement cap came today (Tuesday) free of charge, and I live in southern NJ. I think I've waited longer to find a parking spot in NY City . Once again, I have to say PE's customer service ethic rocks. I look for things to buy from PE if I need something, I don't do that with any other store, online or otherwise.

Nothing too exciting to see, but just being able to do something speaker-related over this last 13 months is a blessing and a lot of fun. I can't wait to build the boxes and fire them up. I purchased a nice 4x8 sheet of 3/4" 7-ply cabinet-grade plywood from Home Depot for $28 this past weekend, so I now have no excuse to get started. I think I may have to add a bit more bracing to the enclosure though, I don't think the cab will be nearly as dead as it would have been with particle board.

                      Thanks for looking

Thanks Justin. I'm sure I wasn't the first to do it, but I hadn't seen it before I did it... so at least in my mind, I'm a pioneer!

It works for this because there are so few parts, and they're tiny. Still can't believe I ordered the wrong value resistor. Duh.

Thanks Chris. The finish actually could have turned out a bit better; a lot more dye stayed behind from the first coat on the cabinets than on my test pieces (should have sanded more!) - so there are some very blue areas, especially endgrain. Lesson learned for next time.

The size comparison was completey unintentional (but hey - now somebody has seen a curling brush for the first time, lol). I just started working where I had space, and was too lazy to move stuff (like the brushes) that could have been in the way.

Hopefully someone can confirm if I've interpreted Chris' ntn crossover schematic correctly. Here is a sketch I made to try make sure I get it right in my mind before I start laying out components.
