I finally built this design about a week ago. You can`t get inductors in my country so I had to wait a long time for them to arrive in the mail. Boy oh boy do these things kick. All my friends who have heard them said they never heard bass like that for such small speakers.

Thanks Chris for this design ( btw i changed the port location because mine will not be near wall and also I like the aesthetics of the front port).

Thanks for the quick response. I originally bought all the parts for this speaker build about 1-1/2 years ago but I'm only just now getting around to building them. Glad to know I won't be wasting my time by changing up the design a bit.

That will work just fine. I finished up a set very similar to that not long ago.

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't see much sense in making a new one since I have a question about a slight alteration of the driver/port configuration.

Because of the height of my chair and desk, I wanted to lower the position of the drivers a few inches to put them at ear level. So I changed the port location to move it away from the woofer and up near the tweeter. Right now, the tweeter is 10" up from the bottom and the woofer is about 7" up from the bottom (see picture). The port is closer to the tweeter, about 3" down from the top. I tried to keep the same distance between the woofer and port opening.

Is this going to create a problem with the port position? Or is it okay? I wanted to avoid changing the positions of the drivers if possible, because they are right at ear level. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone by any chance have an assembled Parts-Express parts list for the NanoNeos? I guess, I can review the posted crossover schematics and browse through the website to find all the parts - but it be so convenient if a parts list was also published (which included parts-express item numbers for the various crossover components).

    Thanks,
    D

Guys, I bought some tweeters before the price went up, so that will help with the kits. I don't think I have enough for ever single speaker though. So at some point, the kit price might jump up once the lower priced tweeters are gone.
I used 3/8", but 1/2" should be fine as well.

While it is unfortunate that the driver components of this build have gone up in price,it is still a great design and worth the effort even at the current prices (roughly $150 for the drivers). I've been listening to mine for over a month now, and I really can't hear a lot to complain about.

The only shortcoming that comes to mind: these are not SPL monsters. They are loud enough for me, but if someone was into death metal at ear splitting volumes another system might be more appropriate.

The other thing that I think is really cool about this build (that doesn't always come through in photos) is how diminutive a 6" wide tower is in the living room. Very high WAF, and SQ at same time. I really like the gloss black look, posted above. With a little imagination, these things could be worked into almost any decor.

Very classy looking speaker! I especially like the piano black and speaker fasteners.

Well, I finally got these done. I'll be back later to describe what I did to make these, just in case someone is interested. Here's a photo of a finished speaker.
