Yessiree- Those were Shawn A's "Voxxers", using the Dynavox 6.5 and the Usher 9930.
    Shawn loves orange....

There is this thing about imaging. The toe-in I chose was questioned by another in attendance. I took the implication to be that it was extreme. Now I have this feedback that it was to some benefit...

On the ride home I thought about this: how little I know...

I envision a way to explore this "imaging" thing.

turntables, lazy susan bearings under round platforms for each speaker...both speakers facing the back wall @ initial set-up...a rope around both platforms, attached to them, crossed into a figure eight when viewed from above...with a tag line allowing the speakers to be rotated from the listening position...the figure eight makes the speakers toe-in together or toe-out together. listen or measure...learn

Thanks to all for the comments, even the ones I have yet to hear. Bring 'em

I do look forward to reading the comment sheets. They are a work in progress. It is the journey and the effect we have on others as we pass. ;)

That one was mine. Emphasis on the "one"..... only half the pair played that night, there was an internal amplifier fatality in the other. There was a short thread about it earlier this year on DIY audio:
    http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi...xperiment.html

I may replace the amps with something less fussy and re-enter them next year. If I can find something powerful enough and small enough, with a built-in power supply.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Which is a real shame. They were one of my favs. I gave you 10 for craftsmanship and imaging, IIRC. Really liked them.

    Froste,

Thanks for telling us the winners of each class.

Can you tell us the name of the designer of each class and a short description of the type of speaker,eg, <$200 is a bipole?

    Thanks

If that's true, Jim, then that's both good and sad to know! Does that mean there were 4 sets of music the judges intended to use? Didn't the judges choose the music in the first place and shouldn't they have known that was the wrong set? Bummer all around.

She said that Carl Keys had an issue to tend to so he had to hand off the testing and leveling duties during that group of speakers. Apparantly, he didn't tell his substitute the specific music to use for the next group of speakers. Apparently, the wrong music was used for that group of speakers so perhaps that is why the sound selections were so bland.
