  • The AviaTrix kits are now available:

:D:D:D The wait is over! :D:D:D

    http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...TOKEN=76718772

The knock down enclosures will be released later when PE receives them from their supplier. -Also note BIG bag of Acousta-stuf. You will have at least 3 lbs left over for other projects.
Do NOT try to put all this stuffing in the enclosures, or the woofers will sound like a gaggle of strangled marmots.
Also note the kit comes with the necessary resistors to configure the crossover to either near wall or far wall applications. You will have either two 10 ohm resistors left over, or two 12.5 ohm resistors left over, depending on your application.

    Curt and Wayne,

Congratulations on another speaker design hitting the streets. I am sure these will make a lot of folks very happy.

Is this the kit for the sealed? If so I will just order it anyway, use what I need for the MLTL's, and have the parts left over for when I build the center.

Disregard lol. I went ahead and clicked on the link. Either way this is exciting!

              Sweet!

For $250 + some boards, wire, glue, and sweat, this looks like a great deal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone for their first adventure into the world of DIY speakers.

Curt, how about adding stuff like the crossover schematic + cabinet options to your first post for convenience?

I see it says: "AviaTrix Sealed MTM Components Kit" - maybe also list what you'd need to add to your cart to make the vented version?

Hmm, what's the part # for those red round resistors in the photo?

Good idea! I'll get that posted up soon... Hopefully this weekend. I need to make a web page on the design as well, just need to find the time...

Actually you just lose the 2 500 uF NPE's, and add the ports to your order.

I wondered about those as well... If you are REAL lucky, they would be Mills resistors, which lately have been shipping with a brown colored body...

They may indeed be Mills, I just got some and thats just what they looked like. When I first opened the package, I wondered what they had sent.

am i missing something or does the resistor situation not match up? curt's diagrams show 2 per speaker, for a total of 4 per speaker pair. he says that you will have 2 extra when you buy the kit, which would be a total of 6. the part list for the kit lists two 10 ohm and four 12 ohm, which is in keeping with curts six. however, the picture seems to show 10 different resistors.

Some resistors are used in parallel in the Aviatrix crossover, so some are used in pairs.

and according to curts diagram, it's either two 12.5s in parallel, or a 10 and a 12.5 in parallel, which is in keeping with curt's BOM for the kit, which is in keeping with the parts listed on the product page.
