Yeah I recognize that I was just curios what it cost i got a quote once and i almost cried lol. I thought I might get a pattern made and use a router to cut everything out.

Ryan doesn't skimp. He really does build for keeps. I'm sure these will sound amazing when he's done. The enclosures will be absolutely dead.

I don't know what it cost, but he has a local guy that cuts it for him.

I've actually considered getting a 2' x 2' CNC router myself. You could do some pretty awesome stuff.

If you guys want to have a laminated design CNC cut, you need to brush up on your CAD skills. Unless you have a buddy running the machine, he's going to charge you for the programming time ... if you can deliver ready to go cutpaths in the right format (like .dxf), you'll save yourself a big chunk of cash. After that, it's simply machine time and material costs. The shape I use is pretty complex, so there's more machine time involved ... simplify the shape to a minimum of cuts and the cost will go down.

Baltic ply is awesome stuff, but expensive ... and there's a lot of waste cutting like this. Medite (HDF) is a good substitute and somewhat less expensive but you'll have to call around to find some. I also saw a couple days ago, a form of manufactured plywood that used Masonite for the ply layers and epoxy as the adhesive. It was cheap too, but can't remember the name. That stuff would be awesome if you can find it.

Thanks Pete, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist at whatever I do. So I start building speakers and say, "I can do better than that". 10 designs latter of determined to do better, I end up here and using RAAL/AudioTech drivers.

With this design I just wanted to have an honest 90db sensitive using drivers with tons of headroom. I'm really curious to see if this smaller waveguide will give me anywhere near the same incredible results as my big 10" custom waveguide did. If so, this will be about the baddest stand mount speaker on the planet.

I don't know what it cost, but he has a local guy that cuts it for him.

If anybody wants cabinets like these, I wouldn't have any problem hooking you up ... just send me a PM. They're not that expensive, around $4 per slice for MDF and $7/slice for Baltic Ply. These cabinets are BIG, so they take 30 slices per cabinet, but a .75cu/ft cab only need about 22 slices. You'll have to make your own baffles, but that cake. The finishing however is a real PITA, so don't think about doing these cabs unless you're ready for a serious time/labor investment.

You're talking about exactly what my 3-way cabinets are made of, HDF panels and epoxy. Incredibly strong stuff when it reaches 3/4" or more. Ridiculous when it's curved!!!

Doubletap, would you be able to provide the CAD files for those cuts? i have a friend who does my cnc'ing for me and those look very effective!
email is in my user id.

                    thanks

similar scenario on my side - if you get too many PM's about this to deal with - the CAD files would be humbly appreciated, if I may be so bold as to ask

Sorry guys, not going to give you the .dxf files ... if you have a CNC guy you can use, spend 30 minutes and draw up your own shape. However if you want some cut pieces shipped to you, I can do that. And I'm only offering that because it would throw some business to the guy who does my CNC work. He's a one man operation who needs to get some work done to recoup his costs.
