    Re: AviaTrix MT:

Everything makes a difference. The question is: Does it make an audible difference?

We didn't feel that bracing in the MT enclosure would be that much of a benefit, presuming 3/4" MDF was utilized. However, the chamfer/scalloping of the rear of the ND140 is well worth the additional 5 minutes it will take to accomplish.

I'd recommend it as a rule of thumb to accomplish in most any design.

How would the curved PE .25 ft³. cabinet work for this design?

      It's dimensions are 12" H x (7.5" Front, 4.5" Back) W x 11" D and .283 ft³. Baffle width is exact and and height is within 1/2 inch.

        Re: AviaTrix MT:

Was the similarity of the two enclosures a fortuitous coincidence?

We took into consideration the possibility some builders would want a pre-built cab option when we designed the MT cabs.

Although our test prototypes were built by Wayne, any of PE's .25ft^3 2way enclosures are usable with the AviaTrix MT design.

Some pictures of the crossovers laid out but not soldered. Also a picture of two finished ones. These cabinets had my Recession Buster before. As you can see there are some scratches-indentations from the original woofers but since these are surrounds I am not to upset about it. Now I just need to get these mounted and finish the other two (probably next weekend).

I like the looks of those ... what size of roundover did you use?

              Matt,

I did not build the cabinets. Nick made these when the Recession Buster first came out and there was a lot of interest in them.

                Matt,

I found the old thread where Nick was selling these cabinets and it is a 3/4" round over. The thread is below if you want to look.

Bringing back this old thread. How badly would rear mounting the woofer to the baffle effect the crossover?

You'll most likely lose dispersion (above some freq.), making it behave like a larger driver - from a "beaming" standpoint.
And you'll definitely alter the phase tracking between the drivers.
