You are definitely on the same train of thought as I am. I've thought about the heat sinks and the exhaust tips just haven't found any that look like they will work.
Yeah, I haven't given up on the cooling fins yet so I left the sides flat so I can add them if it works out. Just not sure how I want to do it. I'll get the round overs done first and see from there. I have put a lot of thought into it from plowing out grooves with a stacked dado blade to a router groove to making individual fins to using plastic corrugated pipe as a form for pouring resin in to. It would even be cool just to find some fins to bolt on. What would really be cool is to get Frost's guy to air brush an engine on them. Again I'm trying to keep it simple and fun so I may not do anything. I just want to have them done in time for Christmas.

Dave,
What about Aluminum Egg Crate Return Grills or T-Bar light Panels, maybe there is some way that you could incorporate that into your cabinets, definitely save you a lot of time and with the Aluminum might look sharp?

Dave, if you need I have an extra set of heads you could bolt to the top. also extra cylinders that are finned, that i could cut up to bolt on. Just let me know, and i can measure and take pics for ya, to see if they would work. also have some exhaust bends (chrome is a little beat up) from various exhaust left overs. I can dig around for other items if you want, probably have an air cleaner cover.
I'm sure I could part with anything that would work for ya, just pick up the shipping cost.

Thanks EVERYONE for all the idea's. I appreciate it.
Thomas would you have any fins that would fit on the sides of the upper cabinet. They measure 8" deep x 6 3/4" high. I don't think they would have to fill the whole space either. The pieces I have cut for the heads measure 4"x8". I was going to round them over to look like the ones in the pic. If you have anything close I could even attach it to them. I was planning on bolting them on so they aren't attached yet. I was also planning on bolting the woofer baffle on.
Is that an air cleaner mounted on the front of the engine, between the heads, in the pic? I was thinking about mounting the mid on one of those.
As far as a vent I was thinking out of the top of the woofer cabinet pointing up then maybe curving out. Still open on that part. I would like to do it externally so I don't eat up cab volume.

Man, those are going to be some nice speakers! Excellent idea...he'll be very proud to to own those! Nothing else like it.
Ha! Not yet, Johnny. There's many things they haven't addressed, but they work on a cosmic time-scale, so I imagine they'll get to it eventually. Shoot, they finally updated the FL frame from feeling like it had a hinge in the middle during cornering...after 25 years! Of course the update had nothing to do with complaints or the non-existent (according to the factory and dealers) front/rear wheel misalignment. My grandfather called 'em Charley Jiggleson, but that was back when you still had to operate the clutch with your foot and shift with the hand lever. I've owned a few harleys and ridden many more, but the best one I ever rode wasn't even a harley, it was a 250 Sprint, made by Aermacchi with the harley logo on the tank. Superior mostly because of it's handling and cornering clearance. And that one was from the late 60's. The new frame is a huge improvement, but should have been implemented a long time ago.

I will have to get out in the shed and dig threw some boxes. I know I do not have any "panhead" rocker covers (the engine in your picture). I do know I have multiple cylinders that are finned, which can easily be cut to fit the sides. I will have to measure what would be there "flat side" once cut in quarters. I know I have some air cleaner covers as well. I will keep you updated a.s.a.p

Thanks Thomas much appreciated. I have the valve covers taken care of. I assume the fins are curved? I think that would give the sides more of a round look. No hurry if you get something that works it will go on last.
More progress today.
Found this all ready bent in my electrical supplies. Just a thought.
I plan on bolting the baffles and valve covers on using gaskets so they will be removable.
This is the back side of the baffles and matching rear panels. I used torch down roofing like in my Rock It speaker build. I heated it up and melted it to the 1/2" birch then heated the other side and melted it to the MDF. I could not pull them apart so looks like this is going to work good for a constraining layer. The knuckle test shows them to be extremely dead.
