    Re: "Knuckle Head" Speak Build

Late to the thread, but all I can say is - wow (!)...absolutely amazing. I believe (and I really mean this) as big as the motorcycle industry is in this country, you should send a picture to Harley Davidson when these are done. This may be the most unique and purely original speaker I have ever seen and the craftsmanship, design, and assembly are nothing short of fantastic. Truly a work of art...

So what's the first tune you are going to play through them? Maybe Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild"?

I'll bet it won't be the Beach Boy's "Little Honda"!

It's a very interesting build, and you are making amazing progress given how intricate the enclosures are.

Dave, I am truely amazed at your work and the speed at which you took a concept and now are closing the gap on being done. These are a true work of art, as are all your designs I have seen.

Wish I was on your christmas present list! :D

Wow! I'm amazed at all the great compliments. Thanks a lot guys. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going over the top with some of my ideas. Being I'm pretty much electronically challenged the box end of it makes building speakers really fun for me. I can say these have really been a lot of fun to build.
To answer a few questions, as far as the first song I may play. It could be this one. :D Sure sounds like a Harley to me.

As far as how they sound I have no idea yet. Hopefully I can get the paint on them and move them into my "speaker room", as my family call it, this weekend. Paul assures me this is the best woofer for the design and I also got the tweeters from him so how can they not sound good.

Pete! What was I thinking, feet?

The challenging part has been the job I have been doing the last two weeks includes two and a half hours of drive time each day. Thank god that one is done. Now I'm within a mile of my house and also painting some trim for the job in semi gloss black. Hmm, same as the speakers.

I second this looks like a lot of detail work (time consuming)

                          Sanded and painted.
Came out a little shiner then I wanted but not bad. I used Rustoleum oil based semi gloss. Thinned it about 25% and applied two coats about 20 minutes apart. I was debating on automotive paint and just didn't want to spend the money especially not doing a gloss finish. Believe it or not it cost more to knock down the shine because you have to add gloss retention.
Couldn't help myself I had to put a few of the bolts in to see how they would look. Originally I was going to paint them black along with the rest but decided to see how they would look shiny. I think I like it with the shiny.

Alright Dave, enough is enough. You are making the rest of look bad, and this will not stand.

                            Beautiful man, just beautiful.
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Thanks, just trying to get them done. I hope to enjoy them a little before they go. Hopefully I can part with them when the time comes. Maybe I'll just through together some boxes and throw a Harley sticker on them and send them off. Who'll know.:D

Talk about man cave boutique. One of the most original cabinets design i have seen to date. Everyone will agree you have executed great. Those cabs have machinist tolerances.
(no blowing smoke) you need to send some pics that Diy program Goldberg does. "Garage Mahal'. They pay for that kind of talent.
