Sorry guys, I can't help it! After years and years of porting aluminum racing cylinder heads, intake manifolds, and headers for drag cars.... I just can't stand sharp edges (unless they are for artistic reasons) or rough transitions . Like a lot of good things in life, most people will never sees all the hours of "sweat equity". Will breaking the sharp edges on those braces really make a difference??? Probably not. But I feel good when I spend the extra couple of minutes doing it ;)

I'll tell a secret - the inside of Driscoll are painted black, the same as the outside except I didn't hand rub the finish on the inside

I also make my crossovers pretty.

It matters to me, much as it matters to you :D
Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

do think he put roundovers on his crossover plates too?
really not that impressive. look at the braces on his iowa entry. that made me jealous.

It may make you feel good but it makes the rest of us look bad. The least you could do is show some sawdust in a pic. Even your blue styrofoam work surface is immaculate.

                  Re: Before I screw up....

All of the table saw cutting and routing is done out on the driveway, so that is why there is no sawdust down in my basement workshop. Those are actually blue formica laminated bench tops. Picked them up for $1 each

I always have a couple of damp rags ready to wipe off the glue runs as soon as I get the first few clamps snugged up. Then clean up again after all clamps are tight. Even though I have been gluing and clamping for years... I still always use too much glue and wipe off more than stays

Those are looking great! I'm one that appreciates going that extra mile too. Even though no one sees the inside of the speaker, at least I know they are nice on the inside too.

I was able to sneak in an hour after work and before it got dark outside.

Rounded over the baffle end of the ports:

I've never rounded over all 12 edges before so what the heck!:

I have something totally different planned for the finish on these guys. I just need to spend some time sanding. I hope it turns out :o

I agree you cant have too many clamps.... untill you knock a dozen big ones on your project because you screwed the bracket into thewall and missed the stud...

PWR RYD, How did you get the clearance areas in the tweeter mounting hole for the tweets wire posts so nice and square? Did you go in so far with your router bit, then trim out the radius in the corners with a jig saw?

Good catch and excellent question. I can't imagine getting such perfect square angles with a jig saw. If this was how it was done, it involves woodworking skills at level I cannot fathom.
