Re: Guitar fans may enjoy this
I just checked out Eric's album Up Close on the Zune marketplace, and even compressed, the sonics of that album are just stunning. I will be buying Up Close as soon as it comes back in stock on Amazon.

My favorite guitarist... has also become an inspiration to many.
He was one of the first "both hands on the fretboard" style acoustic musicians.
He never picks strings.
Some great songs by him...
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
There are more technically proficient acoustic players (Tommy Emmanuel, Andy Mckee, Don Ross), but his compositions and style are just so enjoyable.
Inspired percussive harmonics...
My new album ''Tempo'' is out on my website! It will also be available on all popular streaming platforms and online stores within the next few weeks. The tabs...
What a performer!
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Feliz Navidad my arse!

The Vai songs with this orchestra are amazing:
The Attitude Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FViAjcKIuZA (I love the reverberation at 5:02 in this song)
Maynard, nice Eric Johnson video. That studio looks so nice.

I haven't seen very many of my heroes live, but I have been lucky enough to see EJ twice. Luckier still, the first time was at the Cleveland HOB, and the opening act was a (then) up-and-coming 6-string heroine Kaki King.

My case is not severe though, and I do take safety precautions a lot to keep what I do still have.

Re: Guitar fans may enjoy this
Yeah, I just saw that interview on NPR's website a few days ago. I remember learning about his "golden ear audiophilia" back in high school, when I was really into shredders. My friends and I were so amused that he was so stubborn with his equipment. It took him several years to record and re-record his album "Venus Isle" because he didn't like the way it sounded. He ended up having the studio re-wired at least once (with polarity markings, no less) in order for it to sound right. I also remember that he only used Duracell batteries in his effects pedals because he claimed they were the best-sounding.
The irony of it all is that he also suffers from tinnitus.

Nice place to play around! I have an instructional video from him. but I don't even bother picking up the guitar to watch. Just sigh with jaw dropped.
Funny how those yamaha NS10s are still around ..
and are always sideways on the desk ! LOL
I didn't notice what the real mains were - probably something big in the soffits I guess
but that's why there are mastering engineers
