  • Cabinet / Baffle CNC Service

    All,
I'd like to offer my CNC services to the community. I've had my CNC up and running for about a year now and feel comfortable doing work for others. I've previously done some cabinets, signs, and other work.

To give an idea what I am able to do the machine has the capacity to cut up to 4'x8' sheets of material. I can fit roughly 6" under the gantry in the vertical axis. I recently completed my first set of speakers thanks to help from others in the community. This thead has pictures and a link to a video of the machine cutting cabinets and baffles.

I've created a pricing model, but it's a little complex to post. Below are some popular speakers and their prices. All are flat pack kits; assembly by customer. I can also do assembly and finishing (email me for details). Shipping is in addition to listed prices

    Overnight Sensation Pair $38
    Overnight Sensation MTM Pair $58
Zaph ZA5.2 (Sealed) Pair $49 (same as I just built).
36X24X14 Sub Box with vertical and horizontal internal brace $130

All are 3/4" MDF. I can also do different material or thickness,

Send me an email or private message if your interested or just post up a message with the details and I'll respond so others can see the prices.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Dave I'm just a stones throw from you in Canton, let me know if you need any help anytime, I'm good affordable labor. I may also require your services for some of my projects in the future. Would you mind messaging me your phone number to put in my rolodex? Nice to find someone locally with a CNC router table. I'm set on building my own in the next year or two.

          Could you post approximate weights?

          How about the Nano Neo?

The Nano Neo's would be $55 for the pair plus shipping.

The approximate weight would be 13lbs each. That is just a rough guess based on the density of MDF and the size of the panels.

The OS MTM's would be ~14lbs each
The OS's would be ~7-8bs each
The ZA5.2's would be ~12lbs each

WOW, that is just insanely cheap.

                It sure kills my endeavor.

How are you able to do it so cheaply?

I know I can't compete with a cnc machine, but even so that's just giving them away.

A while back I had a cnc shop quote a pair of baffles (just the baffles!) and it was nearly $200

Dave_W, are you willing to make tower speakers for Zaph's BAMTM? Actually, I'm nmore interested in the baffles. I have all the tools, I just hate routing holes in the middle of Iowa winters in an unheated garage.

I'd imagine Dave isn't trying to recover the cost of his CNC machine, and he's not paying union carpentry wages. More than likely he's got a day job, probably in some sort of engineering.

The baffles would be $33 for the pair. Approximate weight is 9lbs each.

It would probably be best to leave them slightly over sized (1/16") so you can route them flush to the top and sides of your cabinet.

                        Yeah, makes sense.

I hope my post didn't come across the wrong way.

It's very kind of him to be offering for such low prices, a great thing for the DIY community.

Re: Cabinet / Baffle CNC Service

Something I'm getting ready to cut in the next couple of weeks for myself. It's a ported enclosure for an RSS390HF-4 and a Bash 500w plate amp. Interior volume is in the neighborhood 5.5cu.ft. The port is 5" PVC approximately 30" long.

The rear shows a 3" thick stack of MDF that is machined into a port flare. I'll post actual pictures and a video once it's finished.

Thanks for offering your services and at very nice prices, but I bet you are going to get swamped with orders soon.

I think having access to a CNC could open up a lot of possibilites, but I'm interested a little more in templates and not actual enclosures. I still have fun building cabinets, but could use some templates for trying to create curved cabinets.

Curious if you by chance can cut something other than mdf? Maybe a hardwood that might hold up as a template a little better than mdf. I'm assuming you have pretty decent CAD skills to input those models to cut so creating a curved template would be pretty easy?
