Re: Cabinet / Baffle CNC Service

Couple more pics. Just finished up a Cerberus sub. Customer is going to apply the round-over to the baffle. It is not glued together, I just set it up for the picture.

A couple of items I finished up today.

Custom baffles for B&G NEO3 and Zaph ZA14W08 woofer.

Baffle For a Bill Fitzmaurice Short Line Array. Customer is going to apply roundovers to the front and the speakers will be rear mounted. Should look pretty cool when it's finished. The odd shaped flanges were no match for the CNC. It took 32 minutes to cut both line arrays.

Beautiful work Dave. Those array baffles would be quite the daunting task for a non-cnc router.

Hey Nice work and nice machine,
what steppers are you running? I've made my own little cnc (one of those mainly out of mdf) just using 270oz motors need to get better leadscrews just using allthread right now, so it's pretty slow, I use mine to just cut foam then make molds of them, but this summer/fall maybe will make an all steel machine with bigger motors.
As you say it's rewarding to make one, the first time you do a test run and hear those steppers turning...

I use 425oz motors for all three axis, although the X gets two since both sides of the gantry are driven.

It's a vicious cycle when it comes to upgrades. You really need to decide what you want to do with the machine and what kind of performance you can live with. Otherwise you'll end up spending untold amounts of cash to get "a little more" over and over...

If you do upgrade, go straight to a rack and pinion setup. Lead screws are to much trouble.

Those are my Short Line array baffles and I went ahead and had Dave do the roundover work for me, they look amazing.

I was looking at the belt drive option, but as you say might as well do it right and go with R&P, seams much more efficient, and less hassle.
                Mach3?

Yup Mach3. Pretty much the only machine control software that doesn't have a comma in the price tag.

I cut them out over the weekend. They need a couple of revisions, the tall one is a little "springy". I'll let you get your hands on them before I cut another set.

Out of curiosity, that pair of baffles(small line arrays) , what would it cost? Manually I am guessing 4-5 hours with template set up, verification and cutting with hand router.

The small line arrays were $42 for the pair including the roundovers (+shipping). I had substantially less than 4 hours in them.

Wow. That is an incredible price, IMO. Awesome stuff, Dave.

I don't have any current projects, and even I am considering sending you something to do. Awesome work!

That's including set up or are these from the created library?

I should have quit reading before I got here. I don't need no stinkin' line arrays...I don't need no stinkin' line arrays...I don't need no stinkin' line arrays... Are those buyout drivers?
