Campbell's question was regarding the costs for the Karma Inidignia cabinets. In case anybody else is interested in building these speakers the prices for a pair are:

    Flat pack: $68 + shipping
    Assembled: $102 + shipping

Net internal volume is ~.37 cu. ft. and includes a center brace similiar to PE's prefab rectangular cabinets.

    Material is 3/4" MDF.

Yes, count me in for a pair of the assembled cabinets.

Dave, if I provided you CAD drawings (I use solidworks), how would you feel about doing some z-axis profiling as well? This would end up as part of a wave-guidey-thing that I'm dreaming up. Don't really need a lot of z travel, maybe 3 to 4". What are your machine's capabilities?

        Cheers,
        Sam

PM'd. I can do them over the weekend, maybe sooner.

I've have approximately 6" of clearance under the carriage. John Krutke had a similar idea a few posts back. It's also something I've been thinking of doing, but other projects have kept it sidelined. Essentially my thought was to machine a waveguide for a tweeter directly onto the front of the baffle.

I've done some "real" 3D machine work, but not a lot. If you have an IGES of what your looking for I can take a look at it.

I think the limiting factor regarding the depth will probably be the shape of the waveguide and the ability of the machine to reach the bottom of the pocket without the collet or router body hitting the material. If I run into that situation I could always split it into two slices horizontally and then (carefully) laminate them together after machining.

Shoot me an email and we can discuss further.

Couple more items I've finished recently:

            Karma Indignia Cabinets and baffles:

Clearwave Dynamics 4T (special curved cabinet). Will be assembled with a curved lamination and veneered. They should look really awesome. The stack is for two pair.

I also did some router templates for the truncated frame Seas woofers, but like an idiot forgot to snap a few pics before I sent them out.

Next up is a pair if Mini Statements and trio of 4Pi speakers in birch ply.

Nice work Dave. What would the cost of a couple of 7.5" x 28" 3/4 inch baffles be? Not quite sure if I'm pulling the trigger on re-purposing the unisound cabs quite yet but figured I'd price it out just in case.

Well, resisting these just got easier--the drivers I way eyeing sold out :p.

I'm becoming ever more jealous of your machine, Dave.

                      Jay,
$30 for the pair, including the round over work. Shipping will likely be in the $10-$15 range.

Re: Cabinet / Baffle CNC Service

                        Dave,

For doing 3D work, I can heartily recommend Vectric's Cut3D (http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectr.../c3d_index.htm) for toolpaths.

My machine has slightly less Z envelope than yours (only about 5", 4" practical), but I do a fair amount of 3D work. Cut3D supports automagic "slicing" for things that are too deep for your machine or collet, as well as two and four sided machining for fully 3D objects.

Unfortunately it doesn't do automatic toolhead/collet collision detection, but for most tweeter waveguides I think that could be figured out by hand, especially if you were cutting 1.5" slices with a rather deep 1/4" ballnose, and for the price, I'm not complaining!

What do you normally use for the CAM side?

                        -Sam

                          Dave.

I'll get some more measurements tomorrow and send you an email but at those prices I'll definitely take you up on your services.

                          Thanks
