Then again, a custom sub, built to continue the curve of the bass clef, might be something to consider. But a stand . . . I'm not quite convinced.

Here's Ed's newest 1/2" thick templates that he'll use to cut identical pieces for matching stands. He pushed the foot forward so now it's maybe half an inch shy of the baffle edge.

Awesome, that's what it would be like(and possibly like a PITA).

I think fiberglass laid down with a vertical concave shape in between the ribs would look great with those speakers on top.

It's a really interesting design problem.

I think the MiniByzy is actually a very slender speaker for what it accomplishes.

I thnk the new pedestal would work wonderfully if you dropped a plumb line from the bottom edge of the baffle (read: no trip hazard) and reflected the curve of the back of the cabinet.

My first thought was a bit "stylized" without considering the center of gravity of the speaker.

You could easily improve side-to-side stability with extension rods without compromising the design.

          Exactly . . . but how much work . . . ughh.

I know Ed looked at a lot of different approaches. This one at least continued the line of the back to form a continuous curve. So you're saying to reflect the back side of the vertical piece onto the front, so that they're parallel, in effect continuing the back side of the cabinet curve under the front of the baffle. That's kind of the idea of the bass clef.

One good part is, the stands really are small. Being larger than your typical stand mount monitor, getting tweeter height takes less stand to get there. As is, these will be pretty darn stable, and the stand will be incredibly strong.

Ed's got one in the works as we speak. Should look something like this.

I think that shape is going to flow MUCH better! I now it is ported on the bottom, but if there is anyway to get the back support even at the top with the back of the speaker, it would look even better. Either way, it looks better already.

OK, Ed sent me a shot of the latest version. All that's missing is the beveled cut on the base of the stand.

The final version will have the crossover in the base, with the speaker connected via a 4-pole Speakon connector and a cable run up through the column which exits at the back, below that horseshoe cutout. Should be very tidy.

A rounded base would flow with the top better, but it's still a huge improvement.
